OT - Sponsor me in the Tour de Pink
Parliament friends:

For the last several years, I have participated in a bike race called the Tour de Pink, which raises funds for breast cancer education and research. And for most of those years, members of the Parliament have generously sponsored me in this cause. I want to thank you for sponsoring me in the past, and to humbly ask for your continued support in 2015.

One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime, and breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women ages 40-59.

I will once again be riding with the cycling group from Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church in Houston. Our fundraising goal is fairly modest, so if you would like to be a modest supporter of it, we would be very appreciative. Here is the link:

You can click on my name to associate your gift with me personally, or click on "Donate Now" to associate it with our team as a whole. Either way, it counts toward our goal and it goes to a good cause.

Or you can just to go http://www.tourdepink.org, and click on "Donate" to search by name.

I took up cycling on a semi-serious basis several years ago, and it has got me hooked. And with the backing of friends and colleagues, this particular race has been especially motivating. Each year I've pushed myself a little harder, and each year I've been one of the fastest finishers at my distance. More importantly, thanks to the support of friends and colleagues, I've raised several thousand dollars for breast cancer research and education.

This year, on September 20, I will be back in the race. I would be grateful for your support.

Sincerely,
--
George Webb

Fellow Rice fans:

This will be my last request for support for this year's ride. If you are moved to contribute on my behalf, I would be grateful. And I can promise that I will ride hard and do you proud.

This post is not asking for support, but I gotta share my excitement about the weather for our ride this weekend: looks like it's going to be awesome!

UPDATE: We did it! Our team of 13 strong covered 547 miles and raised nearly $4000 to date (9th best of the 62 teams taking part).

Many thanks to all those who supported our team!

We are just shy of our fundraising goal, so if you can help us get there, I would be grateful:

Thank you for your contribution and for your kind words.

For some reason they make it easy to donate to a team as a whole, but harder to designate it toward an individual person as a well. That's why I just put the link for the team as a whole. And of course it all goes to the same cause. Much appreciated!

RE: OT - Sponsor me in the Tour de Pink
We did it!

Thanks to a late surge just from the Parliament and other friends just before the fundraising deadline, my team surpassed its goal of $4000 for breast cancer education and clinical outreach.

All told, our team of 13 strong covered 547 miles and raised $4050 for breast cancer education and clinical outreach. You can see lists of our riders and sponsors at:
http://tinyurl.com/holyspokestourdepink2015

You might enjoy a few of our pictures, which have been added to our page on the Palmer Memorial Episcopal Church website:
http://palmerchurch.org/ministry/grow/fe...s-cycling/

To all who supported us this year and in past years -- THANK YOU! Your support makes all the difference.
