Coaches on the hot seat - 2015
Here’s a list of coaches that I predict will be gone after the 2015 season or perhaps even during it, in order of the likelihood of it happening:

-Mike London, Virginia- could be the first coach fired during the season.

-Paul Rhoads, Iowa State- This is his 7th season there so he’s no longer fixing anyone else's mess.

-Kyle Flood, Rutgers- when Rutgers joined the B10 it truly became a big time program, and they’re going to want a big time coach.

-Kevin Wilson, Indiana- I’m surprised he’s still there.

-Willie Taggart, South Florida- this is only his second season, but what once looked like an excellent hire has been a complete flop.

-Bob Davie, New Mexico: What an awful, uninspiring hire.

-Scott Shafer, Syracuse- it’s only his third year but the Orange went 3-9 last year and I don’t think things will improve from here.

-Al Golden, Miami- he’d be far higher on this list if Phil Steele weren’t so enthusiastic on the Canes this season.

-Darryl Hazell, Purdue- It’s only his third season and don’t think he’ll be fired, but he’s 4-20 here and another two or three win season would make him not being retained a possibility.

If London had any say at all in Virginia's OOC schedule, then he probably deserves what he gets. If not, his AD should cut him more slack than usual.

I think everyone expects UVa to start out 1-3, but will that be enough to get Mr. Teflon fired?

I've been predicting a 3-9 record for the Hoos, and a 5-7 for Syracuse. Those predictions include a win by the Orange against Virginia. If I am wrong about that game, and both go 4-8, then I think Shafer's seat is hotter than London's.

Hazell should be gone unless he gets 5 wins.

But try getting Mitch Daniels (Purdue's president) to sign off on a multimillion dollar buyout - we're talking about the guy who was Indiana's governor during the recession. IN was the only state that ran a balanced budget during the recession, and Mitch slashed hundreds of millions from a small-state budget in order to do it. Upon assuming Purdue's presidency, his first act was to announce a 2-year tuition freeze. This isn't the type of guy who throws extra money at non-core mission objectives (like athletics).

I think any list of coaches that could be gone has got to include Beamer. He's not getting any younger, turning 69 next month, and I don't know if they have 5-6 losses for a 4th straight year if he'll remain.

If Sark goes, Haden should go with him IMO.

Beamer may choose to leave but he gets to leave on his own terms and leaves when he wants. Of course, VT may start dropping some hints its time he chose to leave.

Flood isn't going anywhere. His seat isn't even warm - even taking the latest stories into account.

yeah that's what I'm thinking. I think this year is huge. the schedule is pretty darn easy. only 2 ranked teams, and then only a few after that that should be losable. IF they're only 6-6 there's going to be a lot of noise about him leaving.

That is really a Morgan Burke AD matter. (BTW he needs to go also) Danny Hope last
2 seasons were 7-6, 6-6. He also pushed Tiller out the door after going 8-5 in
in 2007, brought in Hope as asst and head coach in waiting for 2008, 4-8 that year.
I think he has 3 more years on the contract after this year. Purdue has offset language
that mitigates remaining money owed vs. Hazell's earnings as a coach elsewhere.

Attendance has been really bad the last 2 seasons. Ticket sales are at a 60 year low.

The downturn in attendance is also hurting the bottom line, resulting in a $3 million shortfall in ticket sales in the 2014 season, athletic director Morgan Burke said earlier this month.

With their easy crossover league opponents, I figure them to be no worse than 6-2 in the ACC. Throw in a loss to Ohio State, which nobody would blame Beamer for, and they should be 9-3. At 7-5, and maybe even 8-4, the hints about retiring will no longer be subtle IMO.

Unless he dies or gets caught diddling co-eds Beamer will coach the game against Tennessee at Bristol Motor Speedway next year.

Now I wouldn't be surprised if he retires after next season, but make no mistake he is coaching that game.

Somebody should remind O'Leary when applies for that AD job not to lie on his resume, just in case he forgets.

Based on that article, O'Leary wants to pull a Barry Alvarez and grab the AD's position for himself while sliding his hand-picked assistant into the head coach's chair to prevent a clean-slate search for a new head football coach.

I've never heard that O'Leary has the same kind of clout at UCF than Alvarez does at Wisconsin, so it would be surprising if he pulls that off.

Steve Spurier at South Carolina. He is not a spring chicken either, and not getting it done lately like Beamer.

I'd say Fedora at UNC. He needs to go 7-4 rest of the way to just go to a bowl. If they are anything worse than 5-2 heading into the Pittsburgh game- it's going to be really tough for them to go bowling.
