GOL full time AD?
Quote:Central Florida coach George O’Leary, who was named the school’s interim athletics director in June, has expressed a strong desire to assume the position full time and step down as football coach at the end of this season, according to two people who have communicated directly with school officials about the situation.

I don't know why so many UCF fans have such heartache over having Key as HC. The guy has been groomed under GOL for 10 years. If GOL thinks he's ready, I'm ok with that. It will be as seamless a transition as we could hope for. A lot of UCF fans want a young, energetic HC to replace GOL. That's Brent Key in a nutshell. Only time will tell how successful he'll be, but he's more than earned the opportunity. All the other fans who want us to go out and make a big splashy hire are just delusional.

Brent Key as...Enthusiastic, and energetic? Have you even seen one interview with this guy? He reminds me of that one character Joe Dirt where you can't understand what he's saying

I'm guessing you haven't seen much of Brent Key on the practice field or interacting with the players. Of course he has a different persona when he is conducting an interview. Trust me he is as energetic and enthusiastic as they come, not to mention passionate and loyal to UCF.

RE: GOL full time AD?
GOL as AD and Key as HC is a perfect transition to keep the train moving. Next years team will be stacked and will give him a strong start.

Makes sense to me.

Can you imagine bringing in some young spread offense guy after 10+ years of GOL? We'd tank immediately.

With Brent Key at the helm, no doubt we will tank. Do you see how sh!t our O-line is?

Wasn't there a game last year that he was put in charge of calling and then promptly was sent back to GOL because it wasn't working?

Dude is a dumb***.

I'm not sure how o-line play is indicative of his ability to be a HC, but Key has been coaching OL in some capacity since 2009. They haven't all been bad.

First off, O'Leary has earned it. Solid pick for AD. As such, I trust him to make the right choice for HC. If that means Key is our guy than great. Ready for O'Leary to clean house and win more championships in the other sports.

You are pretty negative about most things UCF related. Are you the same type of fan that downplays our Fiesta Bowl win as mediocre because #6 Baylor isn't a traditional blue blood program?

It seems nothing UCF will ever do will be good enough for you. Thats a pretty crappy way to go about being a fan.

GOL will be at UCF in whatever capacity he wants for as long as he wants. If he wants to stick around you'll have to get used to it or get out.

From the lack of ticket sales, Do we have people getting out? 05-stirthepot
GOL is not beloved even within the fanbase and its those peoples $ that has to buy tickets.

I just hope the Big 12 invite comes before Key Holtz's our program. 05-stirthepot
