RE: HS coaches salaries - "Houston area" (What would Ricky McCoy say?)
Another article on salaries in Texas

http://www.statesman.com/news/news/local...ney/ngNWr/

Lake Travis’ Hank Carter holds the distinction of being the highest paid high school football coach in the Austin metropolitan area.

The argument could be made that Carter has earned his annual salary of $138,984, which is nearly double that of District 14-6A colleague Humberto Garza of Akins in the Austin school district. Carter has posted a 51-6 record in four years at the helm for the Cavaliers and won two state championships.

And then there’s Euless Trinity. Combining with school-district mate Hurst L.D. Bell, it helped the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD in suburban Dallas gross over $2 million for a net profit of $343,791 from the 2006 season to the 2010 season.

I am pretty sure any coach in DFW meets or exceeds this. Plano, Allen, Highland Park, Skyline, DeSoto, to mention a few. And my personal favorite Southlake Carroll Dragons, 8 time state champions.

Yep, those are all districts in the suburbs on the west and north sides of the city, except for Pasadena. Big stadiums, lots of DI players. I'd be curious to find out Austin Westlake HS's coach's salary...that school makes lots of players, especially QBs.

Garland up in DFW is good also, especially for Baylor. The current Baylor QB is from there, as well as, Nick Florence who was a tough fantastic player.

Here is why the Trinity program is so successful. Four days ago they beat the #1 team in the USA TODAY poll, De La Salle from Concord, CA. Here is a link the story.

Here is a nice video of the Trinity-De La Salle game. Nice crowd too. Obviously, ticket sales support that big football budget.

Man. HEB is suburban Fort Worth. It's Tarrant county.
I know Dallas likes to take credit for everything, but HEB is NOT suburban Dallas.

Just like our Cowboys are really now the Fort Worth Cowboys.
They just changed cities without having to change their name.
But, it is what it is.

How does a public school find the money to pay that kind of salary?

Fire the French, Spanish, and German teachers... then hire one that knows all three. :-)

If everyone is paying $60,000 for a coach , a school would only have to raise the difference. So they need to generate $40,000 to pay $100,000.

If they have 5 home games then that is $8,000 per home game more revenue to pay the coach $40,000 more. if tickets are $7 each, that is 1150 more paying fans .. maybe that is how they do it.... but what they really do is raise the money from boosters: Houston High raises $700,000 in private money this year

funny thing is, Houston is not the school that I was thinking of when I said some local coaches are earning six figures, I have no idea what Houston HC Will Hudges 04-bow earns

That is OK. They lose every year to our team. We rule the district! Ask them when was the last time they won the conference title! Hsfb smack talk!

The franchise name I assume is THE DALLAS COWBOYS. Based on geography they are actually the Arlington Cowboys since AT&T Stadium is located there next to SIX FLAGS and The Ballpark in Arlington (where the Texas Rangers play) ....so Ft. Worth has no claim other than that they are also in Tarrant County along with Arlington. The Cowboys new world headquarters...is being constructed right now in Frisco, about a mile from my house. So actually, nothing associated with the Cowboys, other than the name, has to do with the city of Dallas. Euless (where Trinity High is located) is kind of mid way between Dallas and Ft Worth and actually closer to Dallas, based on Mapquest. Mid city to mid city....Dallas to Euless is 18.84 miles. Ft Worth to Euless is 18.96 miles. But....Arlington again comes into play...since I think the northern boundry of Arlington is a few blocks from the southern boundry of Euless. (Just some technicalities for those so minded)

PM me who you are thinking about. I don't know of any public school coach making that kind of money in shelby county, at least not public paid salary. Coaches get a small stipend on top of their school salary.

I think coaches should be paid more. They essentially work two full time jobs.

I wonder if one of those coaches is the Lausanne coach? And I wonder how much the middle school principal makes?
