Another Obamacare Coop fails
Another one bites the dust. Funny how we kept hearing how claims were down under Obamacare, but these coops keep failing due to higher than expected claims.
http://www.ibamag.com/news/breaking-news...24183.aspx
The co-op also said it was committed to honoring its individual plans throughout the 2015 plan year to avoid disruption but members would have to seek new coverage for 2016 when open enrollment begins November 1, 2015.
NHC CEO Pam Egan said: “With a second year of high claims costs and limited opportunities for new investment, it has become clear that the amount of growth required to provide quality care at reasonable rates will be unlikely in the next plan year.”

The anti-Obama crowd is really having a hard time finding negative news if this is the best you can do.

Coops failing just months after they were started because they are unsustainable? Yea, nothing to see here.
But, since you state there is little other news, let me break some for you.
Covered California near administrative collapse

Obamacare is so good the screen writers union is demanding an exemption
http://www.breitbart.com/big-hollywood/2...illac-tax/
Obamacare destroyed competition in California, so now BlueCross Blue Shield is receiving historic profits.
Forbes reported in late 2013 that “In California, Obamacare to Increase Individual Health Insurance Premiums By 64-146%. California Obamacare costs continue to spiral up. Breitbart News reported two weeks ago that policyholder premiums under the ‘Covered California’ Obamacare exchange will jump another $384 in Northern California and $296 in Southern California next year.

2/3'rds of Obamacare enrollees dissatisfied with costs and coverages
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015.../?page=all
This article from the socialist website states that 70% are unhappy with Obamacare, the most of any insured group. In fact, they call it "deeply dissatisfied."
https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2015/08...p-a07.html
The Deloitte poll is further confirmation that the Affordable Care Act has nothing in common with the pledge by Obama more than five years ago that his signature legislation was a historic step toward providing near-universal, quality health care. Rather it is aimed at cutting costs for the government and health care industry while rationing medical services for ordinary Americans.

Is their anyone pro Obama these days? I'm in a large Mfg Company and I would easily say 80% of the Union Workers there can't stand Him any longer. And Hillary ranks just behind Him in popularity
I bet they'll still vote for a Dem in 2016. Solidarity and all.

Dunno...the IAFF members I know are in constant battle with the national organization because of their blind support of leftist politicians even when the leftist policies hurt the rank and file.

Union Folks (Not Union Coroporate Organizers) have been awakened in recent years. They see Their Benefits falling like Rocks. Taxes and Insurance rates Skyrocketing way up and The Left Wing Agenda leaving the Middle Class Folks Way behind while the other Classes benefits and entitlements are growing. Illegals Benefits are also expanding while We are either stagnant or being replaced with illegals . If You Left wingers don't think We notice it, You are just living on Pixie Dust !

RE: Another Obamacare Coop fails
Prediction: Union leaders will still back democrats blindly, and urge their members to do the same. Whether--and to what extent--the rank and file follow blindly may be another story. The leaders will control the union political contributions, which will go to democrats to buy the political influence that the leaders crave, and that will still be a factor in democrats' favor.

RE: Another Obamacare Coop fails
I can't for the life of me figure out why this is happening????
Or can I........
Quote:One of the theories behind the ACA was that competition among insurers on the state exchanges would help bring down costs, but in Iowa, at least, there is now likely to be no competition at all, as Coventry Health Care will be the only insurer left on the exchange if CoOportunity falls completely. Coventry is owned by Aetna, one of the biggest insurers nationally, a Fortune 100 company with an active lobbying presence on Capital Hill. The other company poised to win from from CoOportunity’s collapse is Iowa’s biggest insurer, Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, which decided not to sell plans on the exchange. That means its plans are not eligible for the federal subsidies provided by the ACA, but Wellmark was nevertheless quick to remind its customers that, “This is unfortunate news and timing for CoOportunity Health policyholders. Wellmark and its authorized agents are here for anyone who has questions about the health insurance options available to them.”
In other words, an ACA initiative has failed in Iowa and Nebraska, and its failure will cause huge disruptions and uncertainties in the lives of many state residents currently covered by CoOportunity. Not only that, but it could mean premium hikes all around. Some claim CoOportunity’s high posted premiums for 2015 sprung from the high concentration of especially sick residents in its risk pools. But if all those customers migrate to Coventry or Wellpoint, they will bring their risks with them, driving up costs for customers of those insurers. And a total CoOportunity collapse would solidify the monopolies large insurers possess in those states, cutting across the very cost control force the ACA hoped to harness.
