"Memphis and coach Justin Fuente are looking for their second consecutive AAC championship."

Still takes my breath away to see stuff like this in print. :)

Only 2 tigers on their preseason all conference list.

If we see the worst case scenario and drop below six wins, mt.org will have a collective conniption fit.

:hissyfit:Very interesting that with what is supposed to be a great offense this year we only have one player mentioned. Also interesting is that with the accolades for Lynch at the very end of the video that the Cincy QB was picked for the honors. Oh Well, just that more motivation for the players to prove the USA wrong.

anything can happen as the season plays out but I think the chances of that are slight. I can tell you I've followed tiger football for a long time and I don't recall any team as much trust in the coaching and team buy-in as this one. Success breeds success and hopefully we build on last year.

If you want to read some respectful analysis, go to the Kansas board, like that other thread suggested. Fun reading the stats on our O. http://www.scout.com/college/kansas/foru...me-results

Not only that, but Lynch was listed as the 5th best QB in the league. Tigers did get the honor for Best O-Line and Best Special Teams. given that O-Line has historically been a weakness, it's nice to see us on top in that category. That is HUGE!

They also wrote:

Disappoint: Memphis. History isn't on the Tigers' side. And then there's this idea: One year after winning 10 games, Memphis could slide back to seven wins, still reach a bowl and still have a fine season … but still be considered a bit of a disappointment after last year's breakthrough. If we need something a bit more nuts and bolts, I wonder how the defense fares without coordinator Barry Odom, now back in his old stomping grounds at Missouri.

Lets prove em wrong!

I'm a total homer but 5th? Nah.

We are "in the conversation" in all relevant football discussions

We have enough talent to challenge for the outright AAC......depending on injuries and all other luck

Institutional momentum is strong

Imagine where could have been.....had this level of commitment and investment been made over the past 10 years

But spilled milk feeds nothing

Let's fill the Liberty Bowl

Go Tigers!!

They are not homers so they see things more clearly. They notice that he was responsible for something like 70% of the Tigers turnovers.

RE: USA TODAY - Pretty detailed write up on the AAC's upcoming season
For any realistic fan...a seven win season would still be successful, and should not be disappointing beyond the generic disappointment any time any team loses at any time.

Trends matter more for the future.

Back to back winning seasons, the second one after losing a significant number of starters, would show a stability, which bodes well. Just as a four win season would make last year seem like an aberration.

With that, should the new defensive starters develop quickly and not miss much of a beat, it is possible the team can improve on the ten wins.

Trends matter. Give me four consecutive bowl lock seasons and a 7-6 thrown in gets swallowed up, as it should.

RE: USA TODAY - Pretty detailed write up on the AAC's upcoming season
I like the fact the Bearcats are basically lauded as the team to beat in the AAC.

MEMPHIS plays better as disrespected underdogs.

The season starts in 6 days.

Ever forward.
