Cowboys rookie DE Randy Gregory making serious noise in camp and the preseason
Todd Archer of ESPN on Randy Gregory.

@toddarcher: I think the defensive line will be their biggest area of improvement. Greg Hardy will miss four games -- maybe -- and that will hurt but the Cowboys are much better at this spot and Randy Gregory is a big reason why. I hate to say this for fear of it biting me when it doesn't happen but I can see him being the defensive rookie of the year. There, I said it. He might have been the Cowboys' best defensive player from the first day of camp through the last day. I hate to get caught up in what Gregory did in camp because I haven't seen too many other teams at all, but the Cowboys have hit on a player. And if he struggles as a rookie, forget everything I just said.

Gregory and Demarcus Lawrence give the cowboys two very young and very talented pass rushers. Most of the cowboys DL can generate pass rush now, on the edge and up the middle (Jack and Tyrone Crawford, Devon Coleman).

Add in an elite DE already in his prime like Greg Hardy and you have a dramatically upgraded pass rush from a year ago.

We are also going to get some glimpses of Sean Lee and Rolando McClain playing next to each other this year.

Would love another shot at the Packers in the playoffs.

Gregory just had another clean sack, but it was wiped out by a penalty.

He looks totally unblockable in the passing game.

According to Rod Marinelli, they are going to use packages with DeMarcus, Lawrence, Randy Gregory and Greg Hardy all on the field together in some passing situations. Hardy will slide in and play one of the DT positions opposite Tyrone Crawford, with Laurence on the left end and Gregory on the right. Other times they will all rotate at the DE spots with Jeremy Mincey.

Hardy has a history of being able to rush from the inside as well as the outside in Carolina. He had 15 sacks in his last full season (2013).
