The Sun Belt Conference has enough internal support to add a 12th member and has focused its search on current Football Championship Subdivision members Coastal Carolina and Eastern Kentucky, a person with knowledge of the conversations told USA TODAY Sports. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because the matter is supposed to be private.

A decision on which school to add and formal vote should come within the next few weeks, if not days.

"They have enough votes," the person said. "They have already visited the campuses."

Commissioner Karl Benson didn't immediately return a call seeking comment

Between what we're hearing over with this and Charleston vying for a Sun Belt bowl game, I'd say welcome to the Chanticleers.

With the announcement of the potential bowl in Charleston, It would definitely surprise me if it wasn't Coastal.

NOT PART OF THE TWEET, just my added info---(for those that don't know, Moglia is the ex-CEO of TD Ameritrade and current head football coach at Coastal. He is said to be worth about 1.2 billion.)

Has anyone here ever heard of this school Liberty, and if so, would they make a good add?

everything points to CC....I think its a mistake, but what they hell, what they lack in a creditable football program, they make up for it with a kick ass women's soccer program, Ya!!!

Our coach is a millionaire - so I don't think credit ability is a problem.

Unfortunately, I believe you are right. It sure seems it is pointing to CCU. When the Belt had UNT, MTSU, Western Kentucky and even the F_U schools back in 2007 when USA announced football would be added to it's sports programs I was as happy as if I had good sense. Now, here it is 2015 and it looks like Coastal flipping Carolina may very well be added. Who next? West Alabama or Samford?

Would wipe the floor with South Alabama and half the SBC. They are not West Alabama or Samford.
