I swear they changed the dates since it was originally posted; I thought I read the final game was in Columbia (and thus safe from a buyout) but now it's clearly Greenville last...hopeful the buyout is a decent amt.

We've already got 2 home games for 2018 including an FCS game, so if we get a H&H with somebody in 18 & 19 one of those years we'll have 7 home and the other 6.

They won't, Ray Tanner isn't like that. Heck we actually owe them a home series in baseball when their new stadium was delayed in opening. He has a lot of respect for ECU and Sptuh Carolina cam here and played back in the 80's and 90's long before UNC and State did.

South Carolina, WVU, Va Tech, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Wake Forest, Miami, etc all came and played at ECU in Greenville before NC State or UNC would.

As I said before in a thread as a SC resident the Gamecocks rarely venture out for road OOC games other than Clemson. When they do it has been NCST, UVA, UNC and ECU. We are all easy drives for South Carolina fans and alumni that live in the SC, NC, VA area in large numbers.
Listening to South Carolina officials including Spurrier they know that if they want to get into the 4 team Playoff that they have to schedule a semi decent OOC outside of the SEC and not scrubs or just FCS cupcakes. South Carolina looks at ECU as a school that will not hurt their SOS most years but who based on history feel like they can beat us with regularity. It also helps our stadium holds 50K and will probably grow a little in the near future so we can assure South Carolina the same amount of tickets that most SEC schools provide them with in the 5-6k range if the demand is there.

For the UC fan on here it would seem a no brainer for Ohio St and Michigan to schedule a G5 school of the calibre of Cincinnati home and home to not harm their SOS and give their fans a decent away game to road trip to.

It is easy to say they won't.....but I would not bet on it.

They might buy out the second game in Greenville but they almost have to come to the first game with us going to Columbia after that. There is not a lot of difference Stadium size South Carolina visiting NCST, UNC, UVA, UCF and ECU and all five of those schools represent about the same SOS most years to the Gamecocks. They will not be accused of playing the sisters of the poor as evidence by a lot of broadcasters and college football talking heads giving South Carolina credit for playing ECU instead of a chump team. If you remember Steve Spurrier taking a jab at other schools schedules using the ECU game as an example saying we would be middle of the pack if we played in the Big1G.

If they do buy it out it is a nice paycheck and generally as a common couertesy the AD's from both schools will work things out and ESPN will also sometimes try and help with a replacement game on the schedule.

That is true. He is an Eastern NC boy, so he has a lot of ties to the area.
