Medal of Honor Bowl may drop all-star format
http://www.postandcourier.com/article/20...w4.twitter

Quote: With the Confederate battle flag no longer flying on Statehouse grounds in Columbia — and with the NCAA’s ban on events at “pre-determined sites” in South Carolina no longer in place — the Medal of Honor Bowl apparently is rethinking its all-star game format.

Bowl officials are set to hold a news conference at 1 p.m. Thursday to discuss the game’s future, and sources say a change to a conventional college bowl game is under consideration. Medal of Honor Bowl chairman Tommy McQueeney said he could not speak on the record about the change.

The original intent of the founders of the Medal of Bowl was to hold a regular bowl game featuring two college football teams from the Sun Belt and Mid-American conferences.

Sports4 told Medal of Honor bowl shifting to a postseason bowl - possibly ACC/Sun Belt showdown. First game December 2016. No bowl this year

Sport4 told as part of new Medal of Honor Bowl (name not confirmed) state of SC will help foot bill for Johnson Hagood renovations.

Is that a typo or is that really ACC vs SBC? Not AAC vs SBC

They haven't announced conference tie-ins yet so just speculation.

I agree it would be better if it were in Texas or Arkansas but 1more in South Carolina would be better than none at all

There is no way the ACC agrees to a bowl with a non P5 league.

Maybe for most of the rest of you guys, not us. Bowl committees could pull the same travel issues/concerns they had last year. Sly is right.

What's going on with the Austin bowl?

I certainly would like to see us in the Austin Bowl or even Little Rock but I'm not complaining if we can line up a 5th bowl tie in with Charleston. Ultimately we may have 6 tie ins which would be the perfect number for a 12 team conference.

If this happens it will be an SBC bowl. Let the bus league western division crying begin.

And, let me be the first to welcome Coastal Carolina to the SBC.

You don't see the irony? Some western division fans of schools that are actually in a bus league calling fans in the east that want the same thing "bus league".

Again, welcome Coastal.

I apologize for my ignorance 92, but what's up with this "Welcome Coastal" stuff?

Speculation or concrete??

He's assuming that if they add the Bowl game in Charleston (which would be great) then it would give CCU an even bigger edge in the expansion talks. Might be some politics getting involved if the state/city is going to fund any expansion. I'd be fine with a NMSU all sports, CCU, and JMU addition to he SBC. It would make for a very nice 12/14 format and add a lot of quality sports programs to the conference.

Hey JMU get your $#!^ together.

A few App State fans have developed a habit of complaining about the silliest things. Quit acting like App was promised something, you were not. Each school in the league has their own idea of what the league should look like. Also, speaking on behalf of a Western Division School...we get very few bus rides to begin with. We have to fly most places in the league. That's something App should have realized when they joined...

Coastal may get in, EKU may get in, NMSU may get in, No one may get in. We really don't know, and we won't know until the Presidents vote.

My general football fan perspective: We got too many damn bowls as it is. Crank it down to 15 or 20 bowls and that's it!

My Texas State football fan perspective: I want a bowl in Texas! But, I'll take any bowl (given the caveat it doesn't prevent us from signing a future Texas bowl).

My Sun Belt football fan perspective: I want more bowls. Regardless of location. It could end up with some horse trading (we don't want to send a team to SC, and they don't want to send a team to Texas).

Yep that's us! If we're painting with broad brushes here, I can safely say that Arkansas State has the biggest collection of fans who vastly overestimate the talent they have (which is by far the most in the SBC).

Chill, it was a little shot against the Texas State fans that say we need to go back to the bus league every time realignment is brought up.

With that said, this bowl isn't good for Texas State, but a bowl west of the Mississippi isn't good for us. Something has to give.

I'm unclear so I have a suggestion. :)

Select the one that most closely matches your intent.

a) I have heard from a reliable source that there is a consensus that Coastal will be the next school invited to the Sun Belt.

or

b) Based on the information I've read / seen / heard I believe Coastal will be the next member of the Sun Belt Conference.
