Texas A&M-Kingsville 16

Incarnate Word could never beat a Lone Star Conference ever since they started their football program. They are usually way behind the top schools in LSC like Kingsville in football.

um, that's what happens when you move up to FCS.

Incarnate Word still lose to them even when they were FCS level.

Obviously they didn't

Maybe you should start a UIW to Big 12 thread now

Thought it was funny, and I believe the outcome of this game was listed on this thread (sorry if it wasn't).

They beat Eastern New Mexico in 2011 and 2013 and Texas A&M-Commerce in 2010, 2011, and 2012. By my count that's five times that Incarnate Word has beat Lone Star Conference teams since they started football.

G5 over P5. Purdue has an *enormous* monetary and exposure advantage over Marshall. Purdue not being favored was just Vegas' way of also crapping on the Boilermakers.

Purdue hasn't had any luck finding a solid starter since Brees. Pretty sure the current QB holds the longest amount of consecutive starts with 8 since 2005. Marshall is currently one of the top G5 schools and has a very solid team. And this is Purdue we're talking about, I don't find it laughable. I consider both of the Indiana teams to be worse than Ball State.

They do have those advantages, but they're not doing much with it. Also, the only real advantages are money and playing on TV whenever they play more successful teams. Purdue is the Big Ten's Washington State -- both are the second-banana "state school" in a decent-sized state (7.1 million in Washington, 6.6 million in Indiana) where people like CFB but are not fanatical about it, and they also have to contend with a successful NFL team in state.

Though in fairness Purdue is a basketball school and no one expects them to be a football school

Marshall is a football school through and through

Purdue's not even any good at hoops.

In 2013 they beat Indiana State by only 6 in football, no wonder they don't want to play FCS teams any more.

Ball State has beaten Indiana in football the last 3 times they've played and Indiana barely squeaked out a home opening win over Southern Illinois by 1. Nearly embarrassed themselves vs an FCS team

RE: Laughable Scores -- Week 1
Pitt beating Youngstown by only a TD is laughable. Youngstown didn't make the FCS playoffs last year and fired their HC. When a P5 program can't beat an FCS program with a new HC by more than a td, that's laughable.

North Dakota beating Wyoming 24-13 on the road
The #2 Team in most national polls (Oregon) giving up 42 pts to an FCS team with a new starting QB (EWU). Oregon keeps playing like that and they will get stomped by better defensive teams.

Portland St beating Washington State 24-17 on the road.

Ball State beating VMI by only 12 is laughable, VMI has a small talent pool.

UConn beating Nova by only 5, not laughable but not a good win for the Huskies.

TTech giving up 45 points to an FCS team (Sam Houston St) is laughable. How many will they give up to TCU & Baylor, 100?

No wonder the P5's dont' want to play FCS teams anymore, too many games too close for comfort

RE: Laughable Scores -- Week 1
How about conferences that sucked the hardest this weekend

1) ACC: North Carolina lost their home opener, Pitt beat an FCS team with a new HC by only a TD.

2) B12: OK St had trouble with a CMU team that was 6-6 last year with a new HC and picked by some to be last in the MAC West this year.

Highly ranked TCU had trouble with Minny on the road winning by only 6

T Tech surrendered 45 pts to an FCS team (Sam Houston St) in their home opener

Texas got hammered by ND and

Kansas lost to a MVFC team (South Dakota State)

3) 12 PAC

Ranked Arizona beat a Sunbelt team by only 10

Colorado lost to Hawaii by 8 on the road

a ranked Stanford team with a Senior QB lost by 10 to Northwestern who started a Redshirt Freshman QB.

AZ ST got creamed by T A&M

Highly ranked Oregon surrendered 42 pts to an FCS team starting a new QB (EWU)

and

WSU lost to an FCS team

3) Big 10

Nebraska lost to BYU

Penn State got creamed by Temple

Indiana barely squeaked out a 1 pt win over an FCS team

That's alot of suck to choose from

Pitt lost to Youngstown State 2 years ago at Youngstown. This is not laughable because Youngstown is that good.

Eastern Washington is no cupcake team. EWU have beaten many P5 schools the past few years. If an FCS team that could upset a top 5 FBS rank school, it would be either North Dakota State or Eastern Washington.

Sam Houston State is nobody to ignore. They have been one of the top Southland schools and been to the playoffs in recent years.

MVFC as a whole could actually upset any FBS school the way they are playing.

Ohio State secondary is just pitiful, unless Sparty can pull something outta their ass next week against Oregon's offense the Big Ten aint gonna have an easy year getting into the playoffs.

OSU is fine, they will probably win, but if they lose just run the table again.

It's laughable because these are programs with alot less $ to invest in sports, having only 63 scholarship athletes vs their opponents who have 22 more; yet they are either beating programs with larger resources or giving them all they can handle. It's also laughable because the multimillion dollar college football recruiting industry wouldn't give these FCS programs a chance based upon how their recruits are ranked compared to the P5/G5 programs they play. Goes to show how bad the recruiting services are once you get passed the 5 and 4* talent. It's also laughable how ESPN is eating giant servings of crow in the game highlights shown this weekend of G5 & P5 programs going down to defeat.
