What will become of the swimming pool across the St from Bartow?? Is it still needed in view of the fact that we have swimming facilities in the Rec Ctr??

In my eyes we need to make provisions for Football and Basketball and let their success generate revenue to upgrade all the other sports facilities.
How is football suppose to provide revenue for the other sports? Apparently, it couldn't provide for itself, but NOW it's gonna magically help the other sports raise money?
We should be at/on a different level when the football program resumes in 2017. If the on the field success continue, the football revenue will increase from that point on. We all want an OCS, but until that happens averaging 30-40k fans per game if not more at Legion Field can do wonders for the bottom line.

Besides season tickets, given that we rent a stadium and don't control parking/concessions, what other major streams of revenue are there?

This doesn't really justify keeping it, but I know ROTC uses it a couple times a semester for the swim test and the Combat Water Safety Course, both which must be passed in order to commission. The pool isn't really adequate to perform the proper training (no high dive to walk off of blind folded) but it is good enough to simulate it. The pool at the Rec Center is too crowded and I don't think it has the requirements needed for ROTC's events (10 ft deep at least).

I think UAB gets a cut of concessions but not parking. Having large paid attendance will positively affect the revenue stream. Hopefully UAB can negotiate a more favorable deal that will include some percentage of parking and concession even if it means an increase in rental fees.

Any cut out of concessions would be minimal at best.
Most of the time they have local high schools coming in to get some $$$'s.
Not saying that is bad either (being the father of former & future high schoolers)

Perhaps having UAB handle parking using mostly work-study students rather than the city doing it and having to pay the parking attendants or some outside agency is something that could be considered.

There's thinking outside the box! These are the kind of ideas we need. Do you mind of I pass the idea along?
