I would rank it at worst tied for #2 with Louisville/Kentucky because SU/Gtown was played as a conference game for many years where it meant a lot more than just bragging rights. This new series would be just for bragging rights. But the two teams played for BE tourney wins and championships and it was THE rivalry back in the late 70's - mid 90's before Duke came of age. SU/GTown (90 games) has played each other almost twice as many times as Louisville/Kentucky (47 games). I cant even think of any other rivalry that has been as intense and as popular as those three rivalries (UNC/Duke, Louisville/Kentucky and SU/GTown) that could enter the conversation. But that could be because my Acc bias.

The thing about OOC rivals is that you only get 1 shot at them while conference rivals you can have between 1-3 a season (before March Madness).
