"Alex Kline: Hofstra, Utah Valley, George Washington, Rice, Northeastern, James Madison & Boston U are involved with San Diego State transfer Kevin Zabo. "

PG transfer from San Diego State - originally from Canada played in New Hampshire for high school and wants to move back to the East Coast. He would sit a year and have 3 years of eligibility. He's visited Hofstra already and was recruited by GW out of high school so I'd give them the edge.

It's interesting that JMU has been mentioned for Zabo and also Ramone Snowden (Niagra transfer) recently. They are still trying to upgrade the roster where difference makers are available. I assume another foreign big may be either on track to graduate over the summer or thinking of moving back across the pond. Also with offers out to a few 2016 and 2017 area PG prospects who are being heavily recruited by other area schools maybe they see this as a better chance to land the next great PG for JMU (Moore, Curry).

RE: Kevin Zabo
JMU has two scholarships available for 2016 and presumably they would use one on a point guard to replace Curry. The other would probably be used on a big. The key recruiting period takes place in July and players can sign in November, of course. JMU is involved with some solid players at this point.

Zabo was rated three stars coming out of high school and rated as the no. 40 PG prospect nationally by ESPN. He had pedestrian stats for a very good San Diego State team, playing in about half of the team's games.

He's originally from Quebec.

Don't know where any scholarship would come from for the 2015-16 school year. Either someone would have to leave or they somehow get an academic scholarship for the Serb.

Zabo, by the way, seems to be a true point guard in terms of looking to run the team and pass first.

The other point to remember is that Brady is effectively on a one-year deal right now and wants to bolster his case for an extension with a strong year. Adding talented players should only help his case.

It's amazing the improvement we've seen from Hofstra. Mihalich is seemingly involved with everyone and is doing everything he can to improve his team. He's also good friends with Brady.

RE: Kevin Zabo
Prior to matriculating to Brewster Academy Zabo was a Montrose Christian kid. He was a teammate of Justin Anderson's.

Given his story/background I would think that he would connect with YoYo and Kevin Roland. Hope he visits JMU and spends some time with them.

Even though nobody is sure when the new arena will be built, I'm sure it's a better sell to a guy who has to sit out for a year.

Yes...and how I wish the new arena was already in place.

RE: Kevin Zabo
BTW- post script on Zabo- he went Juco for this coming year. May still be on Dukes radar as a Junior transfer to replace Curry at PG in 2016 if they don't land a Freshman PG for class of 2016.
