I've been donating to Athletics for 5 years now and I don't remember ever getting a call from a student athlete just to say thank you. Maybe it's because my donations have gone up this year, i'm not sure, but I got that call tonight from a sophomore on the Baseball team. I think that's a very cool idea, and is a great way to keep people donating.

Please do not call me, anyone, ever. My donation will go up 10% each year as long as you promise never to call me, ever. Stay Cool, make sure you tell everyone that.

I get thank you calls with a request to stay out of DeKalb and get nowhere near Huskie Stadium. I can't figure out what I did.

Glad to hear they're doing this, but it's not new. Even back in the days of Cary Groth, they had coaches and athletes contacting donors and thanking them. Not sure if it's only done at a particular level or higher, but an occasional mailing or call without a sales pitch is a good idea.

I'm a pro at dodging those 815-753 numbers.

Sorry no donation until student loans are paid back. So in about 2060 when I'm probably dead

I've gotten quite a few calls from the student athletes over the years. I think it's a nice touch. They're never asking for a donation. In fact, I would appreciate more contact from the athletic department. It seems as though several events pass without notice.

I was not home and was told someone from NIU called to thank me for my support about 645.They said it sounded like a student. Now I know.

I am donor on the smaller side for 2nd yr so it was nice to get a call. I have gotten emails before, but I agree, it is nice to get a call like that w/o a pitch, as I have gotten in the past when they had my name from buying single tix[/u].

While I know the money is very much needed, I need it too and am not Mr. Moneybags. I explained this and still get the calls. Now, I just don't answer when NIU calls. It has gotten to the point where I get calls everyday during certain periods.

My thank you call came from a young lady on the women's golf team. She asked me if I was a fan of the puckered ball. Of course, I told her yes, and that I have a couple that I keep in my drawer next to my putter. She seemed very impressed and was happy I'm a big golf fan. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I do not like golf.

I hate golf, but as a business major I've learned to fake it exceptionally well
