UCONN soccer coach tears into AAC brethren
Ray Reid is a legend in college soccer. He is one of the winningest coaches in any sport. For some reason, he really teed off on the AAC. He has a point about travel, but I wonder if that anger towards the AAC clouds his perception of the efforts of the other schools to compete in sports other than football?? He really seems like he lost his cool.

"Some of the other schools' administrators don't give a spit about soccer. They just want to have a four-year football run and be the one in the Big 12. They're pulling all kinds of nonsense. It won't affect us per se, but it's certainly not helping us."

Those long AAC trips South and Southwest for soccer? They aren't so cozy when there's no charter. Last year, for instance, there was a Saturday night game in Memphis when the team left Bradley Airport Friday at 7 a.m., went through Tampa on Southwest and got into Memphis at 3 p.m. The team practiced at night, won the following night and left Memphis at 8 a.m. Sunday. Back through Tampa and finally to Bradley at 6 p.m.

"Three days to play 90 minutes," Reid said. "Until we make money as a sport that's the way it is."

UCONN averages over 4000 fans per home game - more than a handful of AAC members average for basketball....

RE: Legendary Uconn coach tears into AAC brethren:They're pulling all kinds of nonsense.
we only care about football...and basketball....but beyond that he is right
having an elite soccer program does nothing for anyone right now

the health inspector is coming to inspect your kitchen and you know it wont pass, so you are speeding a ton of money to fix it....the attic is bad but they arent inspecting that now

failing that inspection is bad for all parts of the restaurant including the attic..and getting a good grade will heavily increase profits to spend on all things including the attic later

hope you guys like my dumb analogy.....and for those who missed it attic=soccer, kitchen=basketball and football...handle what needs to be handled first

UConn is on an island. Not a bad idea to park all of their oly sports elsewhere, except bball.

They are some of the best Olympic sports in this conference. If we move them, it would be to the Big East. Why wouldn't we bring our basketball to the Big East then, too? (UConn to the Big East is what BE4Evah wants, so you are feeding him to create future posts like this)

He doesn't complain when the rest of our soccer teams have to drag ass up to Connecticut. Maybehe should just be mad at the conference scheduling for not just sending them out for a 3 match road swing through Texas or Florida instead of a wasteful one off match

Up to your AD. Not saying UConn should though. For Oly sports (non including bball which is jet charter) travel in a more compact area is ideal.
I am sure Ollie wants to be on ESPN and not wherever the Big East programming is.

I would just stay in the course with the painful AAC travel if we are doing what is necessary to eventually get into the ACC or B1G. What is tough for UConn is that our entire future is essentially in Diaco's hands (and that doesn't exactly make me think the end result will be what UConn needs it to be).

MODS: Can we ban the OP for good? The UConn troll threads from this poster are getting old fast.

Because football matters about 5X more than Bball and the AAC is going to take UConn FBall without BBall....and going indy is extremely difficult right now. I have my doubts whether any other conference is a legit option or a UConn FBall.
