Futures indicate it's going to be very, very bad.

that's what the 44 chuggers are sayin'.....but it affects them too if the pattern holds....

there is nothing that says the 20s/30s can't happen again....

and the fragility of the usd coupled with a commodity pricing strain in a service based industry is trending in that direction......one can only hope that this will be similar to the internet bust cycle....

pay attention to commodities and population growth moving forward.....

Gonna be a wild ride for sure today and probably the next few days. Great deals to be had if you have the balls and extra dough.

Calling the bottom will be particularly difficult. As I posted elsewhere, a dead cat bounce would be a false signal.

How many day traders in here? Frankly, I don't worry about this right now but I'm 36. If I were in my 60's I might worry.

this is where the 401k/roth should be worried.....

there is no law that states flatlining with a down trend can't happen....

the valuation of the dollar moving forward scares the fk out of my arse....

people talk about not timing the market.....yeah, that's fabulous if you are 20.....

when you get older, it's entirely different in scope....

you will see story after story after story from the dipshite media that will play the generational sympathy card even moreso moving forward.....

the boomers are dying.....it's really that simple.....

Not me, although I used to be primarily an options trader. Its times like these were I may peruse for those stocks that get nailed hard for no other reason than a mass selloff. (Like Ford back in '08) There is likely money to be made here if you have been paying attention to the quality companies.

Yeah bottom will be hard to predict, I've seen numbers from 12500 to 15500 that are all within reason to me this week. I'm gonna say not that dramatic and by late today or tomorrow mid morning the buys will be a little easier to pick out.

I'm looking at a few that I'd stick in my portfolio that I would have loved to had 6 months ago that will be back in reach again after this selloff.

I admit i have a simplistic view on this. I have too much going on to pay much attention other tjan adjusting my 401k distribution. My hope is things bounce back like they historically do. I do have some concerns over the dollar.

if you're young, ride it out, AND it rebounds.....you'll be just fine....

however, I'm in the camp that the 401k is why the valuations are such....and that spikes will become the norm moving forward

My biggest stock market regret. Had the finger on the button but couldn't secure the amount of cash I needed quick enough when Ford was hovering around $1 per share for the day.

I have at least 25 more years until retirement, and even after retirement I'll likely end up being a part time consultant at that. I'm buying the same every month, so I'm dollar cost averaging. This has no impact on me at this point in my life - unless main street elects to act irrationally because the markets are falling.

I think main street has long known the the market has been artificially inflated and any reaction will delayed by at least a few months. Only those in a bad position will have to make a knee-jerk reaction.

I think main street knows it as well - unless people get collective amnesia which has happened before.
