Roe v Wade is similar to the gay marriage debacle that the Supreme Court approved. They intervened in the legislative process. Gay Marriage WAS the law of the land in 36 of the 50 states before the Supremes took up the matter. Over 75% of the American population had their voices heard thru the democratic process. If anything the Supremes denied the voters in 14 states a victory and overstepped their power because of their wants/opinions. Abortion was legal in MANY states before In Roe v Wade. - they specifically denied a public airing out of the issue tp offer a heads up or down issue. America would be much better off with a public debate to have rewarded or punished legislators who did not want to follow the will and the rights of the people. The Supremes denied the people this right.

But Paul, there is no federal funding for abortions! PP performs their abortion services with private donations, not federal funding. And I don't donate to them, at all, much less for abortions services.

And how do you know what I do and don't do to prevent abortions? My wife's dear friend and our Sunday school teacher is on the board of the center for women in my hometown which works to end abortions. We also know 3 other folks who are deeply involved in their cause. We help them all the time with fundraising and awareness and education of young pregnant women through our donations.

And you're missing a key point here...I'm not defending abortions, I'm defending the law and the right of others to use their rights under that law. There are many legal things that I don't condone or practice myself, but I'm sure going to support others rights under those laws. Sorry, but I'm frightened by what would happen to young women should abortion be outlawed...it would be a public health nightmare.

Sorry, I just feel it's necessary to separate your personal beliefs and emotions from public policy. I don't want religion involved in it. Not because I'm not religious or oppose other religious people or beliefs, but because we're never going to be able to find a religious belief system that everyone could fall under.

Whatever would happen to those young women, it wouldn't be worse than what happens to the babies they murder. Hey, sometimes the murders are even successful and they die quickly! Other times not so much.

Supporting politicians that hold a pro-life stance and giving to organizations that promote alternatives to abortion.
