Funny that the coaches poll that USA Today publishes was so pathetic (we were ranked below GA Southern) but at least this one feels about right and we're garnering a bit of National Attention.

Ga Southern should be pretty good this year.

30th seems about right. Go out and take care of business, we should be in Top 25 by week 3.

I agree due to the uncertainty about our defense . If the defensive side surprises then I think top 15 to 20 is possible. Our schedule is a problem in that we are rated higher than all our opponents. We need to take care of business in an impressive manner each game to catch the voters attention.

Its disappointing being ranked 30th and relegated to the AAC while teams like ..... Illinois (#102), Purdue (#112), Iowa St (#115), Wake Forest (#116), Vanderbilt (#121), Kansas (#124) ..... sit in P5 leagues raking in money.

You bring up a great point. UC does more with less, while some teams consistently do less with more.

Sad to see BSU at number 5 - no way they're that good.

We aren't 30th, though. That's just a USA Today article, not the real poll.

Boise State is going to lose two games this season. Washington at home, road games at BYU, Virginia, Colorado State, and Utah State will be where the two losses come from. I am hoping that a 11-2 Cincinnati with losses to BYU and one road conference game is better than an 11-2 Boise State with losses to BYU and one road conference game.

Are Miami Fl, Houston, Memphis, UCF, ECU, and Temple better than Colorado State, Utah State, Virginia, Air Force and Washington?

It wouldn't shock me if Houston beat Cincinnati in Houston this season. In my view they have the most talent out of the west. Cougars could also be 10-2 and hosting Cincinnati in the rematch. I have Memphis at 8 wins, Navy at 8, UCF at 8 wins, Temple at 8 wins, and ECU at 6 wins. Those five plus Cincy and Houston are going to bowl games, no else gets to 6 wins.

Agree - was a long winded way to say that I don't think we can have the same record as Boise and make up for the pre-season poll.

The AP and coaches polls play no part in who gets into access bowl.

pre season polls are not pointless in football

All football polls are incredibly meaningful at all times. They drive the discussion.

Exactly! The people on this board who ignore this fact are absolutely wrong.

I know the AAC and the MWC conference aren't anywhere near the level of the P5 conferences but there's no way the preseason favorites in those two conferences shouldn't be preseason ranked every year.
