Pitt Going Back to Script Across the Board
We found out this morning that Pitt is going back to the script logo in all sports and branding. This is a wise move for a university that needs to create one identity and one brand that people will recognize. Why this wasn't done in the past is beyond me but I think everybody realized this day would eventually come.

No new uniforms this year because the wheels weren't in motion for this until after the orders had to be in last fall. Next year Pitt will have revamped uniforms in all sports.

Now if you will just change the gold back to "mustard" yellow, Pitt would have a great looking uniform again.

Personally, I like the gold and navy combo. Love the Pitt script (very distinctive, IMO). Just don't bring back the dinocat, please!

I think they may use the mustard yellow and lighter blue for an alternate uniform. As a permanent brand, though, I think the navy and gold is fine. The script looks great with that combo, too, and although the colors are similar to other schools like ND and Navy with the script logo you never wonder who is on the field. All the other logos we've had since it have been forgettable.

I really hated the block. To me, it was a half-assed, in-between effort. Steve Pederson tried to rebrand the university in the 1990s and although he failed, I see why he did what he did. Then we came half-way back with the block logo but wouldn't take the full step back. It really felt like being in limbo. In addition, it wasn't a very attractive logo on apparel, football uniforms, banners, etc. I thought it looked pretty good on the basketball uniforms but that was about it.

Anyway, it doesn't compare with the sleekness of the script. It's simple but pretty elegant and I'm glad we finally have people in power who understand the need to create one brand and also have the mind to listen to the fan base.

RE: Pitt Going Back to Script Across the Board
Makes sense...Pitt had some of its best success late 70s/early 80s, and that was the look....

I don't know why schools get away from that, especially ACC schools....

Syracuse-- get back to the McNabb jersey look
Virginia-- get back to the '89 ACC champ look. The current looks reeks of the 90s and hasn't had any success
Virginia Tech-- stick with the '99 Michael Vick look. No white helmets in Blacksburg
NC State-- you have a cool mascot, get good lookin uniforms
North Carolina-- go back to the baby blues, Mac Brown '97 look
FSU-- why.....go back to the traditional FSU look

Everyone else is good
