Driskel name LSWA player of the week.

Members of the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) has named Louisiana Tech quarterback Jeff Driskel the Louisiana Offensive Player of the Week after the nation’s most efficient performance of the weekend.

Driskel posted numbers that led both Conference USA and all collegiate teams in Louisiana in the Bulldogs’ 62-15 win over Southern, despite playing for only 25 minutes. The fifth-year senior was 12-for-15 passing with a national-leading efficiency of 321.4 as he threw for 274 yards.

He was responsible for five touchdowns; a number that leads C-USA and Louisiana schools as well as registering as a career-best while his four passing touchdowns leads the conference.

The commentator for the Tech game said "Tony Peterson Tech's OC commented that Driskel's physical abilities are the most advanced he has seen from a college QB. More advance than Chad Pennington and Byron Leftwich"

MT's Brent Stockstill was 25-31, 336 yds and 4TD's, which means he is tied for TD passes.

I was just noticing that myself. They're now calling for AM showers/thunderstorms but clearing up by the afternoon. Temperature looks to be around 70's for kickoff and clearing skies. PERFECT for football. Let's hope the forecast holds.

BIG week all around for the two Division Contenders. Winner gets a leg up and a lot of publicity. Loser has to recoup and work from behind to win the division.

Seems like most people on here don't give us a chance. I know Tech really donkey stomped us last year. To be a favorite in the East, it's kinda suprising. Is La. Tech that much better than ever one in the east?

I'm basing my guess on last year's results & WKU's struggles with a pathetic Vandy team. If the Hilltoppers' offense gets going then it'll be a good game.

This should be a very well rounded Tech team that we have in quite a long time. From many Tech's football experts (not me), this is better than our 9-3 2012 team who was 2nd in the nation in offense.
This is the highlight of our first 24 minutes of the game against Southern. Not much to take out of it as we played against a bad FCS team.

Hard to get a good read on this one really....We struggled with some drop passes last week, but got it going in 4th quarter and looked like ourselves finally on offense...Defense played much better than expected...La. Tech played a FCS school at home, so not really sure what to expect or learn from that one...I would hope we play much better than we did last season, I am sure our players did not forget what happened @ La. TEch...

RE: LA Tech vs WKU
WKU had a nice run at the end of the season last year but LaTech was very, VERY good last year. They stumbled against Northwestern State and at ODU but they curb-stomped WKU, UAB, ULL, NT, UTEP and Rice, and won by a TD or more against UTSA and USM and then battled Marshall in the CUSA CCG in a tight game on the road.

I fully expect LaTech to be a force again this year and I'm having a hard time seeing WKU winning the game. LaTech is just that good.

.
It depends on which Topper offense shows up the Marshall/CMU version or the LaTech/Vandy version. The defense is improved without a doubt but the offense was shaky at best, until the 4th quarter at least. When Doughty is settled in he is terrific when not he is average, if the receivers are catching balls this week we will be a much better offense unit.

RE: LA Tech vs WKU
I just don't know whether WKU is getting too little credit for beating an SEC team (albeit a bad one) on the road, or Tech is getting too much credit for beating a 1AA team at home. I, as a WKU fans, feel like we should get more credit for our win, even though we didn't play too well offensively. I expect us to play well Thursday. Whether it is good enough to win or not, who knows. Our guys are experienced, and the "big game" shouldnt get us out of whack too much... 60 minutes.

RE: LA Tech vs WKU
I think it is a little bit of both. If we had played a close game, and you guys had handily beaten Vandy, the roles would be reversed. To be honest, we had a few questions going into the game, and were surprised by the outcome.

We had Driskell, who could have been a hit or a miss, a new DC, and a new line backing core. After a couple of missteps on the first drive, we hit a stride, and never looked back. The team was focused and prepared for the game. As a fan, we liked what we saw, and really didn't see too much of a drop off from the end of last year.

I think it's going to be a good game, and will set the bar for the rest of the year, especially the winning team. I just wish it wasn't so early in the season.

RE: LA Tech vs WKU
It's hard for me to get past last year's game. I know WKU can play better, but 49 points better? That did happen with Tech and Rice in 2013 and 2014, so it is possible. I don't think this year's Tech team is much different from last year's team though. WKU is going to have to play very well or we are going to have to stink it up like NW State and ODU last year for them to win... which definitely could happen.

RE: LA Tech vs WKU
WE won big, but our play calling was so bland I couldn't really tell how good our first string really is. I mean a lot of the big plays were Driskel getting the ball into the hands of some of our play-makers and let them make plays. The talent level was so far apart that I just couldn't tell if those were plays that would hold against a CUSA team. WKU looked rough against Vandy but they made the plays it took to be an SEC team. I just couldn't tell whether Vandy was that good or that bad. Only what goes down in Bowling Green on Thursday will tell us what each school has to look forward too. I feel like this is the best team we have put together since 1997, but I have been wrong before.

To be honest, WKU seems very overrated. Yes, they have a good QB but they didn't have a defense last year and their first game against Vandy wasn't good. Tech just seems to be solid year in year out.
