The bad news is, this league will have to earn its respect on the field, plain and simple.

The good is, this league is strong enough to do that.

lots of parity in the top seven teams... should be very interesting. I was once pretty skeptical about being in a conf... but as the season gets closer.. I'm pretty excited about it all

Looks like a pretty fair ranking to me. If you don't like your team's ranking, your boys have nearly 4 months to prove the "experts" wrong!

A bit low, but my biggest issue is where Rutgers and Pitt are. Pitt 36th is hilarious, and Rutgers shouldn't be 10+ spots ahead of Temple. I find it hard to believe we're about the average team in college football.

We are paying the price of sucking eggs as a league last year. It will be a much improved league this year. These preseason ratings are just slightly scrambled regurgitations of last years standings. USF is not going to be #115 and UConn wont be #120. A monkey flinging crap at last years standings would likely fare better.

Memphis returns the majority of a top 25 team and we're ranked below Ga Southern and Western Kentucky? Yeah. Well thought out list.

RE: SB Nation 128 team Ranking No respect for AAC
The conference needs to focus on their OOC schedules...and win, win, win.
Once, they start to have success outside the conference....their respect will grow quickly. Take on as many P5 schools as you can. To be the man...you got to beat the man, I once heard.
I would guess that each school could focus on P5 schools in their respective areas...to be most effective.

Navy should really bring some added life and fan appreciation to the conference. Is it possible for Navy to be so happy with the AAC that they bring in the rest of their athletic dept? Or, is their budget too small + they love Army and wouldn't want to break up their Oly sports??

Since the ACC is so terrible, and then with winnable non conf games, shouldn't be hard for Ave teams (nationally) to end up with 8 or 9 wins out of that puke conf.

Nobody is better at this kind of thing right now than Bill Connelly. Read his previews. They are spectacular. I also think they are fair, though obviously there is a lot of room for teams to be better (or worse). For instance, I am sure UC's F+/- defensive projections are terrible, but if Tuberville's recruiting starts paying off this year and we see a defense that is average to slightly above average UC will certainly be a tier 3 and very possibly a tier 2.

Will check his stuff out.

RE: SB Nation 128 team Ranking No respect for AAC
I thought this was pretty fair. There's not a ton of hype around any AAC program this year, but almost certainly, a contender or two will eventually emerge from the AAC. Remember the hype that was building around ECU last year? An 11-1 ECU team last year would have likely been in the Top 10, and if the AAC had played a championship game last year, a 12-1 ECU team would have likely been knocking on the playoff's door.

Having a bunch of teams ranked in the 50s isn't a problem. Any team from that group that steps up in nonconference will get recognized nationally.
