Top 25 Finishes?
What year did the first Top 25 final poll come out?

I was wondering which teams in our conference finished the season in any of the Top 25 polls and how many times?

I think we have two Top 25 finishes. 2010 at 25 and 2014 at 10.

Cinci killed it recently. Houston was a boss back in the day. Hope they can return. Curious what other team top 25 finishes look like? I'm sure Tulane and Smu have a ton from many years ago.

I know Ron Meyer, cool dude. Last time I saw him was a few years ago at a Purdue Whisky game at Purdue.
Homecoming, Whisky ran all over them.

AP Poll started in 1936. Coaches poll in 1950. There have been plenty of other polls especially pre-1960.

It also hasn't always been top 25. For example, the AP poll was just top 20 from 1936-1961. From 1962-1967, they only had the top 10. From 1968-1988, it was back to top 20. And it 1989, it became top 25 where it is today.

The Coaches poll started out as top 20 also, but changed to top 25 in 1990.

Yup, Houston has by far the best football history in this conference an One of the better basketball histories too.

http://www.collegefootballpoll.com/polls...esent.html

AP Final Poll began in 1936.
UPI Final Poll ran from 1950 to 1990 (USA Today Final Poll took it over in 1991).
Harris Final Poll began in 2005 and ended in 2013.
College Football Playoff Ranking began in 2014.

AP Poll didn't start doing a Top 25 until 1989. Before that it was usually Top 20 (some years they did less).

I think we have two Top 25 finishes. 2010 at 25 and 2014 at 10.

I think we finished as high as #20/21 in 2010. We were #25 in the bowl game, I remember Richt remarking about how a 6-6 bowl team still gets a ranked bowl opponent.

RE: Top 25 Finishes?
SMU has finished ranked in the final AP poll 11 times and includes 6 top 10 finishes and 3 top 5 finishes.

1940 - 16
1947 - 3
1948 - 10
1958 - 18
1966 - 10
1968 - 14
1980 - 20
1981 - 5
1982 - 2
1983 - 12
1984 - 8

SMU is generally considered to have won the National Championship in 1935 (a year before the AP top 25 started).

I have a hard time considering anything SMU accomplished in the 1980s as legitimate. That was cheating on steroids X 10!!
