Another Rendon mention and quote
Quote:But for the Nats to be at their absolute best, Desmond and second baseman Rendon have to step up.

For Rendon, the encouraging signs have been even fewer and further between since his second activation from the DL this season, on July 25. He's got a sub-.600 OPS in that span and here, too, is another reason why Espinosa might receive more starts down the stretch. Rendon hasn't been generating as much hard contact as he did in his breakout 2014, and it could very well be that the knee, oblique and quadriceps issues he's dealt with have all conspired to sap his strength and/or alter his swing. I would worry about Rendon, if the native Texan didn't tell reporters last week, "Y'all worry about y'all selves."

The "Owls in California Curse" appeared to be in full force during the Giants' home sweep of the Nats this past Thursday-Sunday: Ant was 1-14 with 6 strikeouts. His lone hit was a 1-out single in T9 of the final 5-0 Giants win.

AR hasn't been in the lineup since last Sunday's game at SF.

Thanks for the link. Williams is doing the right thing. Anthony is not hurt, but he's not 100%. He takes a while to come back from injury, even at Rice that was the case. Resting him now should help down the stretch, when the Nats really need him.

Hopefully you are right and it's not a lost season.

Rendon just hit a home run - 390 feet - and has 2 RBIs in the game. And his gnome give-away is coming up on Tuesday, I believe.

AR with a 3-run homer today so he does appear to be heating up at the plate.

Getting hot at the right time. Apparently those days off helped.

Maybe, just maybe, it's because Escobar was injured and AR is more comfortable back at 3B.

In the Cards Nats game tonight, McCarver praised Rendon but said he has gone to the "University of Rice." Then, he brought up Big Puma.

In the last 7 games AR has hit .367, all singles, and raised his average twenty points.

Last night the Nats beat the Braves 15-1. Anthony got a hit, a walk and a HBP and scored 3 times. [OT - but interesting] Bryce Harper scored 4 times and had an RBI, yet never swung at a pitch. He had 4 BB.
