Lol.

No. We've never had a NQ on scholarship. The last time we took one was likely in our Big West days (~'98).

FWIW, the MWC (like the AAC) doesn't allow NQ's.

They just cheat. That's why they are on probation currently. Just like Marshall was last time they let their NQ's get out of control and made up fake jobs to pay them with.
Yeah, okay.

How is this "cheating"?

"First-year football coach Bryan Harsin was the offensive coordinator when the football program committed its violations, all stemming from the tradition of incoming freshmen spending the summers living with veteran players while working out with the team.

The summer violations involved a rule the coaches didn't know. They helped incoming freshmen find places to stay and the veterans didn't always charge sufficient rent.

Read more here: http://www.idahostatesman.com/2014/09/11...rylink=cpy"

Don't be asinine.

It doesn't matter the coaches didn't "know" the rule, that's their job.

The larger point is that the NCAA has a lot of asinine rules, agreed.

If MU is so irrelevant then quit worrying about them. If you see NIU be sure to tell them 52-23 for me.

Not worried at all. Been so long since we haven't ragdolled Marshall I hardly feel anything towards them at all. It's a nice school where below avg d1 athletes can go and play.

07-coffee3 we just call them "special". For the most part, the student population at Marshall is "special"...and need "help".

I assume you are taking a stab at the "help" program at Marshall? Not cool. You may want to do a little research on that program and the impact it's had on kids with aspirations of a college education before poking fun at it. Marshall, Iowa, Arizona and the AAC's very own UConn have the best programs in the country when it comes to these programs. And in case you didnt know, ECU has one as well.

And Tyrell Tomlin who just flunked out of UNC (I didn't even know that was possible); is now enrolled at Marshall.

Normally I don't oppose NQs, but if you flunk out of a school where you don't even have real classes, then I must say you're not college material.

It seems hard to believe that grades like D's and F's can be transferred.

They can when you have no requirements to enter the school. NQU.

Florida running back James Allen, who signed with the University of Louisville in February but failed to qualify for the Cardinals this season, will enroll instead at Marshall University, according to 247Sports.com.

Good pickup for Marshall. They lost a RB earlier this season.

A Marshall University football player charged with allegedly beating a gay couple in West Virginia last month has been kicked off the team and could now face federal hate crime charges.

School officials announced Wednesday that senior running back Steward Butler has been released from the team.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, Casey Williams, 20, and Zack Johnson, 21, said they were walking back to their hotel from a nightclub in Huntington. They kissed, and that's when a car pulled up and Butler allegedly began yelling anti-gay slurs from the vehicle's passenger seat.

“He called us faggots, queers, you name it,” Williams told Buzzfeed, adding that Butler and his party were strangers to them. “We were trying to ignore him, but he jumped out of the car and came running up to us.”

Two more men followed Butler out of the car, said Williams. Johnson, realizing a confrontation was about to happen, started taking photos and video.

“Butler punched [Johnson] in the ear and the temple area," Williams told Buzzfeed. "He was hitting to cause damage. It was one strike with a closed fist. Then he punched me in the head. It was on the face, in the cheek.”

You're a dumb***. First of all that dude didn't run up to a police offer and hit him. He was in a fight and hit the police offer trying to break it up. Second of all he spent 300 hours of punishment for it among other things. Third of all he didn't even play.

We literally just kicked a starting OL off for breaking team rules, wasn't even arrested. Kicked off a RB who wouldve competed for first string 2 months ago for smoking weed. Just keep saying bull**** and pretending Marshall is disciplined

My favorite story from the Doc Holliday era is the one where 3 Marshall football players robbed a pizza delivery man at their dorm at Marshall.

Hey...at least Doc kicks these type of kids off the team. O'l Ruff just slaps their hand and allows them to remain on the team.

Seriously, can your school transfer D's and F's? How does that person get by admissions?

Every school does shadyshit in the admission process; but how does you admission office allow D's and F's?

You are "speculating" that the kid got D's and F's.......I'm hearing that the kid simply quit showing up for classes. Why he quit showing up for classes?...I have no idea.

Is this the guy you are talking about for smoking weed? According to this, it wasnt just about smoking weed. It was about a drug deal gone bad....

Good for Marshall. I remember the Pirates doing this for a bunch of years and the local ACC teams whined about it.

Got to get in where you fit in, so to speak.

As I have explained. We are all competing for the Access Bowls. If a team or teams has an unfair advantage, it needs to be addressed. I think there needs to be a level of uniformity in admissions and eligibility rules for all of FBS.

Completely agree
