RE: Success looks like
I'd be happy with 11-2 and a conference championship. 10-3 with a conference championship would probably be ok with me as well. Anything less than that will be very disappointing.

RE: Success looks like
I'm all in for an undefeated season, but since we've seen that once since 1918, I wouldn't bet on it. This team will be the quality win other AAC teams will gun for. BYU @ their place is no cakewalk; Miami and Memphis were beat downs last year so we have a sense of how competitive those games may be.

11-2, a bowl win against a P5, some buzz nationally about Kiel and a top 25 ranking to finish the year would be highly satisfying. It also goes a long way toward earning more respect from those who somehow feel the Bearcats must play their way into a P5.

To me it is the following:

10 win minimum
At least one victory over Miami and/or BYU
Bowl win

Obviously ad a win for a conference title which is the goal.

I agree with Mark. This means no head scratching losses to the likes of South Florida, etc...

I would say beat Miami (Fl), double digit wins, top 25, and to win a bowl game against a big conference opponent. Ultimate goal would to run the table, be the only undefeated team in the country, and somehow sneak in to the playoff or access bowl at minimum.

For me, success would be holding the conf championship game at nippert, winning it, and winning the bowl game.

I am sick of getting embarrassed at bowl games...

RE: Success looks like
I know UC's offense will be great, but I just posted an article from the Enquirer covering the defense. The defense was not good last year, lost some of their best and experienced players, and changed coaches (although that's probably the best change).

UC just needs the defense to be average and not let the good teams score at will on them like last year. You can only win so many of the shootout type games.

Based on that, I hope UC will win the AAC and definitely must win their bowl game, no matter who it is against. I'd also like to see them win at Memphis and beat either BYU or Miami(Fl). I think Miami Fl will be the best opportunity.

This. That would be minimum beat SEC team in Birmingham. Peach Bowl would be outstanding. Easy travel for UC fans. We all need to buy Boise St. voodoo dolls and stab them often.

I expect a WTF loss at some point, that seems to be the nature of college football.

We had better not have a WTF loss this season. Miami (FL), BYU, Memphis, UCF, Houston, Temple, and East Carolina are all teams that are capable of beating us. But if we lose to USF, UConn, Tulsa, Miami (OH), or Alabama A&M... well, I would basically consider the season a failure. There is no excuse for losing to any of those 5 teams. And if we don't win at least 10 games, this season is a spectacular failure.

I think the AAC will be improved and actually decent this year plus solid OOC.

And the MiamiFL/BYU games are on ESPN prime time.

Everything is aligned for a special year for UC....we just have to go and take it.

Having watched most if not all of the videos throughout the offseason it is apparent to me that the coaching staff has communicated to the players that 9-4 does not cut it at UC. I am glad they see it the same way that the fan base does.

Road games at Memphis, Houston, ECU, and BYU are not going to be easy. The other road game at USF and Miami Ohio are trap games. A 4-2 road record will not be anything to be ashamed about. Its also why 6-0 at Nippert is a requirement for a special season.

All of those teams can be top 25ish. When we play at ECU their new QB will have 11 games under his belt. Just glad to have a home field advantage AKA Nippert Stadium.

Agreed. The USF game kind of worries me. USF should be much improved this year and we will be playing down there in the heat after coming off a tough stretch of BYU, UCF and Houston. I can easily see a let down.

Plus we typically underperform when we play at USF. Or USF overperforms. Always a dog fight when it shouldn't necessarily be.

I do think Memphis, UH, ECU, UCF and Temple are going to be wars. No doubt. Throw in @BYU and Miami FL and we have a pretty good schedule this year. We need to win these games and hope a few of these guys crack the Top 25, which actually could happen.

If our Cats think they can just 'show up' to these games they are going to have some L's hung on them, I am confident in that. I hope we don't read too much into our own press...it could be a disaster.

BK's teams won a bunch of close games, so do CBJ. There are some excellent coaching staffs in the conference. It wasn't that long ago that Pitt and WVU fans laughed at UC football. OOC Miami and BYU are dangerous.
