I think the West is pretty awful this year. Three better teams in the east (Cincy, UCF, ECU).. maybe Temple too. I think Memphis and Houston battle for the title, Navy maybe slips in there.

I believe the top three teams on each side are all pretty evenly matched. The east has one more potentially strong team in Temple. The west needs Tulsa to get back to their usual form. When they do they'll be a contender.

SMU will be a contender before Tulsa is. It will take a year or so but this ship is coming on fast.

The AAC needs one team to be very good this year... I think it is Cincy or UCF or I could totally be off base and it's Memphis... but they need one. No one cares about a conference with a bunch of decent teams at the top but no dominant one (or one and two) team.

In other news... I just completely described the ACC this year... mediocre as sin.... and exactly why the Big 12 has nothing to worry about this year as far as getting into the playoff unless an SEC West first place tie occurs, the tie-breaking team gets the SEC title game victory and that other SEC West team leaps a Big 12 champ... which I don't think happens.. and would have nothing to do with a title game.

Man, I shoehorned a lot into that post.
