The Texas Longhorns have added the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to their 2019 football schedule, the school announced today.

Texas will host Louisiana Tech at Darrell K Royal – Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin on Aug. 31, 2019. The game will be the season-opener and the first-ever meeting on the gridiron between the two schools.

As a result of adding Louisiana Tech, the Longhorns have moved their previously scheduled game vs. USF on the same date to Sept. 5, 2020. Both the addition of LA Tech and the USF change are dependent on approval from the UT System Board of Regents.

Louisiana Tech now has three non-conference games set for 2019. The Bulldogs also travel to Bowling Green on Sept. 14 and later host UMass on Oct. 19.

Serious competition for sure. Glad to see La Tech snagged a home game.

I get the pay game for Texas, but would have hoped for a home and home with Baylor. The more the G5 accept those types of things the more the P5 will expect it. Guessing the Clemson game is a payday too?

Surprised we are playing Clemson again after the bought out our home game with them a few years ago.

Well they do have NC St, UNC and Virginia Tech scheduled in Norfolk over the next few years. They are doing well in that regard.

Good scheduling for LT. I do wonder why Texas has to get football schedules approved by the system board of regents though. That seems odd.

I can't wait until we get more established in CUSA. We have already shown what we are capable of with FCS talent, wait until we get bigger and faster on Defense. La Tech saw a sample of what our defense could look like in a couple years. 3 points in the second half IN overtime. OUCH!

considering how many times Tech has play A&M, I'm surprised this is just now the first game vs. Texas
