Hambone, the number is about 17000 total alumni in the Houston area. That includes undergrads, grads, and those who didn't graduate.

Thanks... That certainly seems reasonable.... and even just 2,000 would be more than 10%.

Of course, with our graduation rate (and I don't think we offer any 'per class' tuition... and UH may not any more but they used to) I think we have a minuscule percentage of those who didn't graduate and UH is perhaps 30% or more.

There is a growing bunch of out-of-towners who have bought season tickets in support of the program at the urging of Athletic Department staff.

RE: How many alum season tickets does Rice sell?
I just sent an email out to some 60 friends/people who have been on email chains in the past encouraging them to buy tickets. You might know who I am if you received it, but feel free to use this text or some variation of it to send out to your friends to do the same!

Quote:All-

I've copied email addreses from many old email threads about Rice Football, so if you were roped in then, you're in now. I will not be sending out any more emails to this group so if you don't care, feel free to delete this and expect no more spam.

For the rest of you still here, hopefully you are aware of the Rice Owls home opener next Saturday the 5th vs Wagner. We're coming off 3 consectutive bowls, a win in Hawaii, the football end zone facility is under construction, and we should be really good this year. This momentum is built on winning, of course, but we need to support that by showing up to the games and supporting the program.

I am emailing you to encourage you to get season tickets and come out to the games as well as donate to the Owl Club. The general admission season passes are only $100 for the season for 6 games. You can find all the details you need for tickets or the Owl Club at http://www.RiceOwls.com. Having more season ticket sales and Owl Club members shows the administration and big donors that there is a growing base of fans and supporters and I think that will encourage more big support.

As always, our tailgating group will be set up near the stadium and we'd love to see you swing by before games.

Thanks for you time, let me know if you have any questions before games or want more info about tailgating!
