USF confirms it's conducting a OCS feasibility study....
"If MOSI does move Downtown, it would open up a prime piece of property on Fowler Avenue.

Right now, MOSI uses a relatively small portion of a 70-acre site on Fowler Avenue in Tampa across from the University of South Florida. Hillsborough County owns and controls that land.

Leaders have been pitching ideas for that property: a technology business hub, a corporate headquarters, or the site of a new on-campus football stadium for the University of South Florida.

USF confirmed to me they are in the middle of a study investigating whether to build a new football stadium on- or off-campus. However, a spokesman told me they won't talk about any specific sites right now."

Good. Hope it happens for both USF and Temple in the near future.

I wish there was a way Temple could build downtown. I love center city Philly. Would be great to head over to the Dandelion after a Pirate victory.

We are downtown and the Dandelion is pretty accessible either way. We're not going to get anywhere near the land and money needed to build it around Rittenhouse Square. It's going to happen in North Philly on campus.

Huge. You guys need and deserve it. Also looking forward to not having to hear you guys say you don't need one any longer.

It really is a difference maker. Hope it happens.

Any idea on the funds that would be available to pay for it? What ballpark range the stadium is expected to cost? This is a good step towards an ocs. If it does move forward probably close to 5 years away from a game being played in it.

The Phillies tried for two downtown locations and failed. In the end the ballpark was built in S.Philly across the street from the old ballpark.
Downtown also had two sites possible for a new casino. The new casino is now going to be built ... you guessed it ... across from the Phillies, Sixers and Eagles stadiums.

As we all know Temple pays the Eagles rent to play down there. I like it down there but the stadium is too big for us at 70k and far from campus.
A campus stadium will be a nice investment in our own campus. Students have been asking for a campus stadium location. I think that it's going to happen but I now expect many delays.

The MOSI site would be perfect. Wheels are rolling and our new AD is making sure if they move that USF is in the picture but nothing is done yet there are a few hurdles to overcome but I like the way things are looking

I want to get excited about this, and indeed it would be awesome to have a great OCS, but it feels like it's going to be many, many years away...

Make those wheels turn faster!

Keep pushing/selling how/why MOSI should move downtown...as they would be able to reach a lot more visitors/guests and maybe more corp $$$ too (with downtown location).

If MOSI moves downtown (might take them a few years to get new facility built), it would obviously open the door to USF expansion across the highway...be it football stadium, new dorms, campus buildings, etc....

USF may get an on-campus stadium, but I'll always think of the Tampa Bay Bucs' pirate ship as "The Bullship." ;-)

OCS would be too costly. Real bad idea these days to increase student fees and tuition. RJS is a great facility and I deeply believe the Brahman Bulls should continue to play there home games at RJS.

This isn't really a story. I feel like USF does a feasibility study every few months or says we're looking into into every now and then. This doesn't mean much.

If you build on the MOSI site, but don't include a hurricane room and a planetarium in the new stadium, it will be cursed by the ghosts of nerds past.

Haha, it would be pretty cool if they left the IMAX movie theatre, hurricane room and planetarium.

Will be interesting to see what, if anything, actually happens about a decade from now. We're getting pretty locked in on all sides, getting all this land as part of campus would be a Godsend.
