RE: CBSsports Countdown 1-128
AAC is generally ranked too high, especially the bottom dwellars. Not a chance that at least one or two of USF, Tulsa, SMU, UConn, and Tulane don't end up in the bottom 15.

Even with USM's inexplicable 43 point improvement, C-USA drops a net of 64 spots from the end of last year.

I'm calling this the annual "G5 HAIRCUT" by our glorious national media. So if the G5 is getting this haircut, who benefits? eww, yeah, that's right.
No one wants to hear it but we have been telling everyone we would be better and a big step towards being back. Its hard not to with 20 transfers and several of them are not juco's they are from fbs programs.

Yes just because CBS sports says it, it must be true. What is the deal with your fan base and this "us against the world mentality?" No one gives a $ht.

Bunch of cocky little upstarts in CUSA these days. Heaven forbid if USM fans finally have some optimism.

Here's to the Fighting Cecils finding out what Southern Miss football is all about. Welcome to The Rock 11/21/15.

what part of my statement was cocky? Its funny because "those little upstarts" tend to be moving up, while southern miss, well tends to be going no where fast. Whats that taste like? I just don't understand why you all think no one in CUSA wants southern miss to do well, everyone does.

The only thing all these different pre-season rankings are good for are to get our collective gridiron juices flowing.

Exactly; and just as I expressed many months ago, these opinion polls are like belly-buttons....everybody's got one and they don't amount to a hill of beans. We end up one place at the end of the year and they start us somewhere completely unrelated the next....according to this CBS blogger, we're going from first to last in one year; puleeze. We were 4-1 in Bowl games and won all of our G5 match-ups last year.

Bring on FOOTBALL, I've got a chip on my shoulder.

How can 65% of the people think Charlotte is ranked too high when we're at 128? 03-no

Reminds one of how the AACK discounts the official G5 rankings for last season. 03-lmfao

Unless I'm not reading the prediction/finish stats correctly, USM ending up 113th when they were predicted to be 70th, is NOT an improvement. It's a 43-ranking-spots slide ... which helps explain our conference's 64-spot drop.

(In this ranking, as in golf, a higher number is not better.)

#70 is their prediction for USM this year. #113 is where USM finished last year.

Ahhh, thanks for the clarification. I thought it was last year's prediction ... and the post was intended to show how inaccurate those pre-season polls are. Mea culpa!

Totally understandable. Anyone would be confused when they've got the East ranked higher than the West.

I guess no one expects FAU to do well. That's good, lower expectation are easier to fulfill...
