I love bowl games for one reason. It's another game that I get to watch NIU play, and that makes it totally worth it.

Good to have an extra game, but I think consensus is that it doesn't mean anything in terms of actually winning a bowl game, no post-season significance. More of an exhibition.

Other than a reward for players for their hard work, it's extra practices for your players. That's especially important for your redshirts to get a jump on the next season.

Then so are OOC games.

Taking it to the logical conclusion, since there's really no hope of getting into the CFB playoffs, none of the games matter.

You just alleviated all stress from my life until basketball starts. If you can somehow rationalize that our basketball games don't matter either, you will add years to my already fragile, stress-filled life.

P.S. No matter what, please don't tell me that my many years of visits to the Grotto did not matter!

I'm sure your visits to the Grotto made you what you are today. Whatever that is.

No I am not delusional and I know it it the longest of long shots but if it happens how sweet it would be. In some ways more shocking than our Orange Bowl appearance. And can you imagine Herbie's reaction?

Now how can you argue with that?

03-cloud9I 'll play your game. Herbie's reaction would be, "What is wrong with the OSU? It looks like they are really going to suck this year! Maybe they need to fire their coach." In other words, the OSU would get more blame than the Huskies would get credit.

I would gladly take it. It would be music to my ears, just like when I was listening to the stupefied Purdue sports radio talkers on my way back from Lafayette, Indiana.

Yeah, wasn't that fun? Biggest beatdown at home for Purdue! I was hurtin' and red as a beet from sunburn, but I had a huge smile on my face listening to those announcers.

Was this coming back from '09 or '13 against Purdue?

Well, the 2013 win was also quite enjoyable. Listening to the announcers and fans calling in, I was ready to call 911 to set them up on suicide watch.

That's what I thought. It would make more sense for them to be mad about the '09 loss than the '13 one.

The '09 Purdue team wasn't bad; they beat OSU & Michigan that year and had come close vs. Oregon the week before NIU beat them. And that was an NIU team that hadn't beaten a P5 team in 6 years and hadn't beaten a Big Ten team in more than 20.

The '13 Purdue team was horrible. They won only one game the entire season. And of course, the NIU team that year went 12-0 during the regular season and beat Iowa in week 1.
