Well, MT is 7-1 against CUSA competition at home since joining the conference - the 1 loss being to departed ECU. I'd say that's a home field advantage no matter what you say about the atmosphere.

UTEP might be the best when they have it going.
They're more intimidating in the second half, after the burritos kick in. Makes the opposing team's eyes water.

Nah ... our stadium is super wide open and tons of space between the stands and field.
Picture is pano from 50 yard line three rows back on visitor side prior to the LA Tech kickoff last year. You can get an idea what I mean by open.

Record has nothing to do with the question. You can have a great team in a stadium that sucks. Or a great stadium with outstanding fans who are really loud and it producing a really intimidating atmosphere, yet the teams record is average.
That said, the worst I ever went to were UAB and two old conference mates - USF and Tulane. UAB because of the horrible stadium and no fans. USF because unless they had a huge crowd it just was flat and looked empty in that great big stadium. 30,000 looked dead at USF. Same for Tulane, no fans and the place was too big for a small crowd.Even when Tulane had great teams it was bad there. That said I sure liked playing in New Orleans. Love that place.
RE: Who has the Most Intimidating Atmosphere in CUSA?
I haven't been to any of the other CUSA stadiums, but always watch CUSA football when I can.
I was really impressed with what I have seen from ODU. That place looks like its always rocking on TV. So Miss has one of the best venues in the conference. Can't wait until you guy get back to regular form, this conference needs ya. UTSA has a good atmosphere sometimes.
I can't think of any others who stand out. UTEP does when they are winning, but unfortunately, thats been a while. They can average 45k/game when they are winning.
RE: Who has the Most Intimidating Atmosphere in CUSA?
Well ODU did have a visiting fan (from Norfolk State, 3 miles down the road) write a letter to the editor complaining our fans were disrespectfully too loud.
RE: Who has the Most Intimidating Atmosphere in CUSA?
The only time I've been jaw-dropped by an opponent's stadium in C-USA was Marshall's first trip to El Paso in 2005. I think we were UTEP's largest crowd in their history, they had the stadium rocking, and they thumped us something like 31-3. Now, I don't think I've seen the Sun Bowl like that ever since, but I think that shows that UTEP has the potential to be the best in the league.
RE: Who has the Most Intimidating Atmosphere in CUSA?
ODU has a small stadium, but it is always full. It was loud at the start of the Marshall game there, but dead after halftime. Granted, it was a tough game for them, but I was impressed with their support. I haven't been to Southern Miss; however, they seem to also benefit from good support. Homer pick?, but Marshall can be really intimidating and loud too.
My top choice is UAB and Legion field. Not a dig on attendance, but it is very intimidating to play in a huge, mostly empty stadium. Even with stellar, top of the conference attendance, Legion would appear mostly empty. It's just too big for any CUSA school. Tough atmosphere to keep momentum.
RE: Who has the Most Intimidating Atmosphere in CUSA?
I think Tech's home record is good, don't know the numbers. Our stadium can get loud mostly due to the fact that its built down into a "valley". I think the addition of the Davison Athletic Complex will drastically increase the noise consider the broad, solid wall of glass in the south endzone.
RE: Who has the Most Intimidating Atmosphere in CUSA?
Most of you are going on ...could be.
Any of us "could be" but the case is all of us (other than ODU) don't sellout enough or get the almost soldout stadium to play the could be game. Getting 85% full or soldout once or twice every 2 or 3 years is a almost never...not could be.

I don't think the players felt any intimidation either. 2-1 record in those three contests.
Rice is 0-1 at Apogee. If you were there for the Halloween game, you know the noise in our stadium had an effect on the Rice team. Go back and watch that goal-line stand again.
I'm not claiming Apogee is the loudest or most intimidating place to play in C-USA, I have not been to all of the other venues, and I believe most UNT fans are kind people. But, it can get loud in Apogee. When it does, it is certainly tough on road teams. North Texas has a 16-7 record at Apogee. That's good for a .696 home winning percentage. On average road teams only win about 30% of the time at North Texas. Not bad in my opinion.
The game I attended at UNT was the 32-31 Rice win at your old stadium.
If the fans are louder at apogee than at the old stadium, why is that? Is the construction such that noise is amplified?
In any case, I thought the fans at the old stadium were nice people and involved, as were the ones at LTU, but the only time I have ever seen a crowd that intimidated was playing at LSU.
