I like that she has a Latin motto on Twitter that means "She flies with her own wings"! Very Rice-like thing to do

Go Owls!

The Rice section of the Sports page doesn't seem to be updated with the newest content.

Hmmm....are people having difficulties with the actual links to the stories that we post and update several times a day on Ricefootball.net?

I should bear in mind that not everyone is a subscriber, in fact most aren't -- I subscribe to the online edition, seldom read it -- but does that mean that a number of the direct links I've been posting are non functional for non subscribers? As I recall, Tiki et al have come up with a workaround that apparently will get you behind the paywall at least in some cases....

Please let me know if there are problems with the links we post. So far have 11 direct links to SK-bylined stories since she started on the Rice beat...can non subscribers only connect to the blog posts?

Am trying hard to be "one stop shopping" for Rice football news links....all suggestions are welcome....

No problems with those links, and thanks for posting them there! Perhaps everyone should be checking Ricefootball.net all the time anyway, BUT, if the focus of someone's comment here is a Chron story, it makes sense to post the link here too.

Absolutely. Parliament is just as much a source for breaking Rice football news (plus a means to gauge interest in particular goings-on) for me as it is for most of you all. Don't know what I'd do without it.

I really like SK's Daily Reports. She's doing a great job. MK, SK? Is their a trend here in superior Rice reporting?

I still haven't managed to crack the code for posting comments. I'm thinking my work computer may be blocked from doing so and the chron's mobile app is too tedious to even try.

I loved her line from Day 6 - Watching guys try to block freshman offensive tackle Isaiah Edwards (6-8, 380) is like watching a Ronda Rousey fight. It’s highly entertaining for a short amount of time because the next thing you know, the opponent is on the ground.

It consistently prevents me from posting comments as well. At first it wouldn't let me even type anything in the comments field. I tried logging out and back on and it let me type my comment. But then it wouldn't respond when I clicked Submit. Not sure what the deal is, but life's too short to try and solve that mystery.

I have the same problem, so instead, I've been replying to, retweeting or favoriting her tweets.

The last two freshman offensive line classes are the most physically impressive freshman classes I have seen in the David Bailiff era. You have to go back to Goldsmith's 1991 freshman class with Chris Cooley so see a comparable set, imo.

So is Edwards going to start as a true Freshman, or will he be redshirted?

I would say no given Bailiff's proclivity of redshirting players. With that said, Bailiff/Vinclarek have not shied away from starting Redshirts, e.g., Caleb Williams and Calvin Anderson. I think that it will be dependent upon his mental grasp of the offense. I would also throw Crockett Mockry into the mix. But I'm no coach so....

Stephanie believes he's the only true freshman offensive lineman that has a chance of not being redshirted.

Yes I saw that too...she also mentioned that Connor Patterson was at left tackle as opposed to Calvin Anderson. ?
Who knows.

As for Edwards, I wonder is it worth not redshirting him especially if he is not a starter?

Agreed, although I don't know how to weight the benefits and drawbacks of him possibly being a second stringer versus having a less talented upperclassman in that position instead. Still, great to see that he has good footwork for his size.

I'm sure Coach Rhoades has some drills in mind to make that footwork even better 05-stirthepot

Been commenting on almost every article - how great is to see solid, consistent, in-depth coverage again in the Chronicle? Does anyone know the origin of the increased coverage? Don't want to assign accolades if they're not deserved, but could the resurgent athletic dept have somehow had something to do with it? If it did, then chalk up another tactical score behind the goal of creating momentum and the perception of a big-time team in a big-time city in a big-time conf... ok, 2 for 3.
