Fantastic Four
The new one is an epic bomb. I actually liked the first two, thought the cast did what they could with stilted scripts, so I say they reunited the originals for a third in that series and forget this one, and just hope The Torch never has to face Captain America.

I agree. I mean, is it better losing money?

RE: Fantastic Four
There is no motivation for Marvel to partner with Fox on FF.

Spider-Man is their biggest character. The FF is an old comic that has fallen out of favor. The strongest selling point about the FF rights are the other characters like Doctor Doom and Silver Surfer. I think Marvel buys the rights back or just waits for them to expire, right when their current slate of movies finishes.

I saw Fant4stic. I didn't think it was bad... I thought it was bland.

I thought they keep the rights as long as they make movies every X number of years.

Although, there are rumors that Deadpool 2 has been put in place of the FF sequel.

I'll take Vince Howard any day.

They do.

But Marvel doesn't have any incentive to help Fox make Fantastic Four movies. They don't sell comics (I don't think there is a current FF comic book title). They aren't big merchandise sellers. And Fox probably doesn't have to pay much in the way of movie royalties.

The reason Marvel was willing to work with Sony and include a character they don't control in film in the MCU is because of the popularity of Spider-Man and how vested they are in the character. Spider-Man is Marvel (if not Disney's) biggest merchandise/licensing character. So a successful Sony film would make for big returns for Marvel/Disney even if they don't make anything off the Spidey movie directly. Plus Spider-Man being in an MCU film could add hundreds of millions to the worldwide gross of that film.

The Avengers movies are the two highest grossing comic book movies of all time (and Iron Man 3 is third), yet Spider-man is still a bigger character than any of the current Avengers.

So Marvel wouldn't want to work out a deal for Thing or Mr. Fantastic because it really only helps Fox. Marvel wouldn't benefit other than the pride of a classic set of characters getting a better movie. I don't think they care about pride unless it includes profit.
