I pull for all of the SC FCS schools except Presbyterian. They would probably revoke my Newberry diploma if I pulled for them.

Can NDSU really be considered a Little Sister of the Poor? In the past 5 years, they are 5-0 against FBS teams including 4-0 against BCS teams with Iowa being the potential victim this year.

NDSU might as well move up to FBS, they'd be a top 25 team up top. Yeah, they'd have scholarship reductions and would lose some key transfers they normally get but this is where they belong.

Can you really call any of the Dakota schools "Sisters of the Poor"?

South Dakota is building a new basketball arena...USD Basketball

South Dakota State is renovating their football stadium... SDSU Stadium

North Dakota State is renovating their basketball venue... SHAC Renovation

North Dakota is just completing construction of the largest Division I indoor practice facility with a full 100 yard football field and an 8-lane 300 meter track. [Image: 20150812_091009.jpg]

North Dakota also has one of the nicest hockey arenas in the world and led Division I in attendance this year. UND also had better attendance than an NHL team.

Sisters of the poor? I think not.

Their hockey wouldn't qualify in any event, our hockey conference, the NCHC, is right up there as a power hockey conference.

To me, the Sisters of the Poor is referring to an FCS school in an area where there are P5 schools at the top of the totem pole, and then Go5 schools below them, and then FCS schools below them.

Not so much a part of the country where FCS is the top level of competitive football.

As a fan of central California in general, Cal Poly Mustangs and CSU-Bakersfield Roadrunners top my list.

As our family's favorite weekend destination....UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos

As someone who grew up in northeast Indiana, IP-Fort Wayne Mastadons are up there too.

Seattle is my favorite big city in the world.....Go Seattle U RedHawks!

My sister lives in Hillsdale, MI.....WMU is one I root for in the MAC....WMU will surprise many this year....who knows? Your Broncos might challenge our Mountain West Broncos (Boise) for the G5 Access Bowl spot this season.

Grand Valley St impresses me as well (not in Kalamazoo, but your neck of the Michigan woods).

Go Kalamazoo!!!

I was there last in 2007....has that oil pipeline leak into the river been stopped?...all cleaned up now?....and correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't that oil leak happen in 2010, and was overshadowed by the Deep Water Horizon gusher in the Gulf of Mexico news-wise.

Thanks!
I cheer for the Michigan GLIAC schools in general. Would rather go to one of their games then a U of Michigan, Michigan St game. Though I get annoyed by Grand Valley St as they take a lot of students that should be going to WMU.

Unfortunately this isn't going to be the year we compete with the Boise St Broncos for the Access Bowl as the 2 almost-guaranteed losses to Michigan St and Ohio St aren't going to help. But you can guarantee us next year as we have an easier schedule in MAC-like Indiana and Illinois and get the 2 other MAC contendors in Toledo and Northern Illinois at Kalmazoo.

Ya, the pipeline leak happened in 2010. Not sure what's up with it currently though.

RE: Favorite Sisters of the Poor school?
Mine is Savannah State who was once one of our rivals. Alabama State and Savannah State once played in the old "Classic Down South" played in Columbus, Ga from the 1950s until 2009. This was once a HUGE game but it fell off once Savannah State's program started to decline in the early 90s. In 2009 during the last meeting we wrapped up our 19th straight win over SSU, ending the series winning 21 of the last 22 meeting with the average margin of victory being about 23 points. We ended the series because attendance started to drop tremendously. This game once drew over 20,000+ in attendance with another 10,000 or so who simply just tailgated to only about 12,000 total in 2009. Savannah State promised to never play us again in any sport until the Classic is renewed so we haven't played them in anything since 2010.

Last year Boise lost to Ole Miss and AirForce and went.

If Say WMU stuns MSU, and actually fairs well vs Bucknuts, and, say Boise loses to either Washington or BYU, and my Bulldogs upset Boise in the MW Champ game......

I always thought they deserved better than becoming a member of a conference only when BYU and Utah had left it behind (happened more than once).

My sisters of the poor school is:

Southwestern University in Georgetown Texas, established in 1840.
The Pirates were one of the original members of the SWC and won the Sun Bowl in 1944 and 1945.
Southwestern has about 1600 undergrads but, wields a powerful endowment three times larger than Boise State at $253 million.

Pirates? For an inland local? They have colors like the Pittsburgh Pirates, so they must have gotten the idea from them.

Pittsburgh Pirates established 1891.

Are you saying that Pittsburgh isn't land locked....or, do you consider Lake Erie the High Seas?
