That was a damn impressive effort to get such a group of movers-and-shakers behind the movement to bring back Blazer Football. Once again UAB, and Blazer fans, well done and congratulations! 04-clap2

So money is being collected? I keep hearing money is not being given. Just making sure all is well. Any confirmation?

RE: UAB Athletics Campaign Committee announced
For most, first payments were not agreed upon to be delivered until later this year or even 2016. It seems like detractors are making issues out of nothing right now. Pretty smart PR move by whoever is against UAB football though: Agree to begin accepting donations some 8-10 months later after announcing reinstatement... But after only 2 months into the waiting period begin screaming that the money isn't coming in all while the head coaches contract is still not approved. Good way to kick the can down the road

Very few pledges are due yet; mine's not until January. The City of Birmingham, for example, pledged to buy tickets: theirs comes due when the games begin.

As far as money not being given: the 15 members of the Board of Trustees, who collectively have donated tens of millions of dollars to Alabama-Tuscaloosa athletics (upwards of $70 million from Bryant Junior alone) have to date collectively pledged $0.00. The same amount as UAB President Ray Watts, who did recently pledge $15,000 to have a grove of cherry trees named in his honor. No corporation associated with the Trustees is listed among those named in Smaug's post.

You'd almost think they favored one campus over the others.

I do not even know how to reply to that. Amazing but sad information.

That's funny because I am hearing quite the opposite. I should know. I'm helping collect it.

This of course gives (additional) lie to UA Board President pro tem Karen Brooks' assertion that they don't play favorites, but on the other hand, It's extremely gratifying to pull it off without a dime from the bastards.

Their job, as with all other fund raisers for athletic depts, has become even more difficult now that we will be paying the players.

Not really, we had planned that going in. At least we don't pay like the SEC thugs do. Bidding wars left and right and no one does anything about it.

That list can't be right. I don't see Bryant, Jr. or Watts listed.

I just read an article where they asked Hatton why he was chairing the committee and he said something to the effect of: he never went there and had no affinity for the program originally but is passionate about his city, and UAB football is what's best for Birmingham. Really exciting stuff, especially after all the damage Low Wattage and his board of tuscalosers did.
