Fall Camp Discussion Thread
I'm kind of surprised there isn't one yet, so I'll start a thread to discuss the Bearcat Football, Fall 2015 camp.

Camp officially opened yesterday, today was the first day of practice... Things move tomorrow to Camp Higher Ground.

RE: Fall Camp Discussion Thread
Looks like Chris Bains (our poster cinbinbains) went down to camp today. He posted some of his observations on his twitter page and will do an article on his blog.

Bains: Practice Report: Day 1

Quote:You really don’t get a sense of how much energy this team has until you take in one of their practices. Today’s was ran in 18 4-5 minute segments during which players were flying through reps, trying to get in as many as they could for the afternoon. Between sessions coaches shuffled players around in huge groups while barking commands for the following drill. It was remarkable to see in person and really speaks to the focus and professionalism of this staff.

Here's a link to the article: http://cincyontheprowl.com/2015/08/06/ci...ort-day-1/

Quote:Former quarterback Jarred Evans has retained his #12 jersey but has indeed been moved to the defensive backfield. He got some reps at both safety and cornerback, performing well at both. Despite the change of position, Evans is still displaying the size-speed combination that made him such an incredible dual threat quarterback when he signed with UC. He had a couple of pass break ups and bobbled an interception as he was falling to the ground. Overall, Evans has displayed a very positive attitude with the position change.

He goes into detail, worth the read.

The coverage on Chris' site has improved a lot. That is some good coverage for a college practice.

I'm a little surprised DeLonte Murray was already running 1st team with the OL at Guard. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing. Physically, he didn't look to me at all like he was someone in good enough shape to be a factor right away.

I fully expect Kahlil Lewis to be a big-time player. If they weren't so loaded at WR this year I think he'd be getting a lot of PT right out of the gate.

Saw on twitter somewhere that Kinard didn't practice because of an NCAA issue. Anyone know what that is about? Didn't he take part in practice back in the spring? Hopefully that gets resolved quickly or he'd be a big loss.

One thing we should be looking at is our depth at QB. I'd love to see Gunner stay healthy all year but after last year he's been prone to some minor injuries it seems. How are we looking if he gets hurt?

Hayden Moore looks to have a very firm grasp of the offense and can make most of the throws. Also showed a pretty substantial improvement in pocket presence and running ability in the spring practices. He'll be a decent to good replacement if Gunner were to go down, I'd liken him to the level of a Mauk being replaced by Grutza kind of talent dip, definitely a competent, maybe even above average, quarterback already, and he's just a RS Frosh.

Yes, Kinard played in the spring. Can't recall which LB position he played but he struck me as being kind of thin. Or maybe I just thought he'd be bigger/thicker. But he's fairly long and does seem to run well.

He's definitely on the thinner side but he can really run. Something the defense desperately needs.

Good insight... Looks like a highlight video but is actually Tubs taking questions after practice.
