We are watching a SEC college football game on TV (probably U of Florida) and Memphis is also playing on another channel. So, during a break in the SEC game, I ask if they would mind me flipping over to the Memphis game to see the score. A man I don't know is sitting at the other end of the room watching the game and says..."Memphis! Why would you want to watch a high school game?" I look at him and ask "Where did you go to school?" He says, "UT". I respond "Oh, University of Texas?" He responds "No Tennessee." I go, "Huh" and get up and leave the room, as do my other relatives and we go to the back porch and watch another TV there. I ask my nephew, "Who is that guy?" He responds..."He is an A Hole..no one likes him. He can watch the game by himself."

At a minimum, I would have just gone ahead at that point and changed to the Tiger game and popped him if he tried to change it back.

But, of course, I don't care that much what many in my family think, especially the orange clad ones.
Actually it was Thanksgiving and I was a guest at the house of a slightly distant relative. Also, me being 72 and not really trying to pick a fight (I have always felt my brain was stronger than my fighting skills at 72) sometimes just getting your point across is enough. My nephew also told me the guy in question was a Pasco County Florida sheriffs deputy....which brings into question whether he was packing....and even moreso, if he had even graduated from the other lower rated UT (You have to be in the top 10% of your high school graduating class to get into the Univ of Texas). Looking back on it....I think I made the right choice. That afternoon, Florida was losing to FSU and we were beating up on U CONN 41-10. Actually, I had a great time. We had come to Florida from Texas to be with family and when the host said grace, he made a point to single us out and say how much he appreciated that Diane and I had come all the way from Texas to be with the family. I wasn't going to allow one A hole who may or may not have gone to an inferior school (in the mind of Texans) spoil it for me or anyone else.

I sympathize with your obvious mental limitations, but there is a difference between what happened "50 years ago" and "during the last 50 years". Obviously somebody cared enough about it to put a list on the Internet - not to mention the media and fans of those schools on the list. I knew when I started this thread that there would be a mad rush among some to piss on the cornflakes as quickly as possible. Post anything a little positive on this forum and you can count on that.

There's really no reason for all the vitriol sir. Excuse me for not agreeing with you.

I apologize if I have misjudged your intent.

Oh, no. You were right. I f you review his posts, he likes to bait and antagonize. Another of the new breed of Tiger fans.

We need to think about now

I can answer this!! Tennessee fans incessantly talk about the past. That's pretty much all they do. But here is a historical fact a Vandy grad told me the other day that I thought was interesting.

While it's true that since 1975, Vandy has only beaten Tennessee 5 times, in that same time period, Tennessee has only beaten Florida 6 times?

typical tigahhigh attitude.........reveling in others misfortune which helps us in no way
typical btigah...a really weak spin.

Most fans of a top 5 teams can tell you about their school 50 years ago.

Ask an ole miss fan about their team 50 years ago and you can't get them to shut up

So yeah, it matters

He thinks every game was played 50 years ago.

No, I just think the results from the last five years mean significantly more than 50 years.

And what exactly has Ole Miss done recently? Conference title? Championship? Playoff?

Exactly
