SBC Seriously Looking At Coastal Carolina and EKU
Here's an article from the Myrtle Beach newspaper that focuses on the Sun Belt's interest in Coastal Carolina but also talks about Eastern Kentucky. Apparently SBC officials have already visited EKU.

Obviously either of these teams would provide a travel partner for App State. Then the league would go back to divisions to lessen travel expense, especially for the non-revenue sports.

East:

Ga St/Ga So
USA/Troy
App St/Coastal or EKU

West:

Little Rock/ASU
ULL/ULM
Texas St/UTA

Coastal sounds great. We could alternate having the basketball tournament in Myrtle Beach and Hot Springs. One site would be good for the Eastern schools and the other good for the Western schools.

I have gotten the impression from Chasse that the conference is considering going back to teams bidding on hosting the tourney. New Orleans has been a financial disaster (not that any of us predicted that). However, host sites would probably be limited to schools in larger cities like Atlanta, Mobile, Little Rock, and Arlington. I'm looking forward to New Orleans, next Spring, but I do think a change is needed.
