Phase I or the 50-60 million dollar renovation of the existing structure, using a hotel tax, sounds perfectly reasonable and needed. (Renderings look great)

Phase II is crazy talk...where are the going to get 900 million from?

Couple things stand out to me. We are going to spend nearly twice as much as nashville. $900 million and the overall project could take 15 years or so, and the last renovation went over budget and had delays.

The $55-$60 million trolley project got finished, and now they don't have the money in the budget to keep that running. Yet they spend extra money to replace the trolleys with a bus that looks like a trolley.

I like the idea of progress, but our leadership doesn't seem capable of such projects unless you want to totally bankrupt the city or gouge the taxpayers even more.

It took ten years to build a boat landing. Drawn up by some south americans. I don't know how old you are, but you better be in your mid 20's to see any of that come to fruition. Kevin has always wanted to be mayor. Maybe he can get it handled, hats off to him if he can.

Speaking of...while driving into Memphis a few weeks ago I noticed a new canopy or something over the Cannon Center or the old auditorium...anyone know what I'm talking about?

Maybe Memphis should focus on the rapid departure of police and Fire fighters before building a billion dollar convention center? If I get some time, I'll file FOIA requests for the building permits.

And it may already be too small. Viking has said they want to dock two boats at once when they enter the market in 2017. The8r boats aren't like what you are accustomed to see at the landing. They have said they will be like their european river boats, long and slender. They may have different boats in mind for below and above the locks.
