They had the original trilogy marathon in theaters a while back, so this comes as no surprise. As for new adaptations, I think that the popular Tolkien IPs are cashed out for the immediate future.

Bu how much more material can he add to The Hobbit trilogy? Each movie ws 2.5hrs or a little more... for material that was the equivalent to ONE of the books from the LotR.

I think he added in other Tolkien works to coincide with the Hobbit to make it longer.
