Probably because he knows you're on the message board. They know all.

I do believe that some people in athletics have read this board in the past. Not sure they still do but if they do, someone may have recognized you.

Ha. Don't be dumb about things you put on here and you'll be good. I worked in the athletic dept back in the day as a student. Plenty of people in the athletic offices were reading it then & I'm sure that's still the case today.

I worked in the athletic dept back in the day as a student. Plenty of people in the athletic offices are actively reading it.

I hope we provide them with enough entertainment to get them through their days.

They probably read this while scarfing down a hot dog during lunch. (Perhaps that's the reason for all the shortages.)

Pssst! Hey, Athletics folks, when are you getting rid of those dehumanizing urinal troughs in Huskie Stadium? (P.S. When you finally do, please let me know because I may want to buy one.)

-The Yard, which opens three hours before kickoff for the Huskies’ Sept. 5 home opener and two-and-a-half hours before kickoff the rest of the season, is open to all fans and offers something for everyone.

-The Yard also re-opens at halftime.

Bands at The Yard (with my search results for what type of music
-“The Student Body” (Sept. 5) - High energy party hits cover band
- “The Cal Stage Band” (Sept. 12) - http://thecalstageband.com/tourdates.html Country
- “Ear Candy” (Oct. 10) Dance party cover band
- “Red Woody” (Oct. 24) Rock/Alt Rock cover band
-“Back Country Roads” (Nov. 18) Country
-“Linzy and Coax” (Nov. 24) Folk/acoustic

- Members of the Pup Club will form the tunnel through which the Huskies will enter the field.
- In addition, every game, one youngster will be chosen as the Kish Health Kickoff Kid and will run out and pick up the tee after the opening kickoff.

-Fireworks will be a big part of the Huskie Football game experience in 2015 as they will light the sky during the national anthem, after each NIU touchdown and after every game.

-While at the game, fans can interact like never before via NIU Athletics new rewards app. Fans can now download “Red Black Rewards”, the new interactive loyalty rewards app for Android and IPhones. Search “Red Black Rewards,” download the free app, then use it to check in at NIU games from specific sports – including football, volleyball and soccer this fall - and receive prizes based on the number of points earned for attending games. The app also includes a fan cam, fan poll, a link to the NIU Athletics social media accounts, and an awards tab that shows users which awards they have won from attending events.

-NIU students are asked to WEAR RED to every home game this season, except the Black Out on Nov. 24.

-Also making its debut this year is a student attendance initiative called “Mission 6” with the goal to have at least 6,000 NIU students at each of the Huskies’ six home football games in 2015. Students who attend every game and stay for the whole game will be eligible to win free tuition for the Spring 2016 semester.

Going to be tough seeing fireworks in the daytime, isn't it? And aren't fireworks expensive as hell? I wonder if the cost of them could exceed the income from the south endzone special seating.

Some of the other ideas are good tho. I like the ideas to boost student attendance.

1) Fireworks are fired during daylight all the time, especially at sporting events. They do the same thing the cannon did...make a loud noise.

2) No, not really. It's not like they are launching a 5 minute firework show. The mortars they fire off won't be very expensive.

3) Quit being bitter about the cannon. They don't have to do the fireworks at all but they are. The kids will like them and they accomplish the same damn thing as the cannon while allowing more premium seating options.

The mortars are the loud ones, aren't they? So the people complaining about the noise of the cannon will be even worse off.

I don't even know for sure if they are using mortars but they certainly could if they want to continue the "loud noises" tradition that everyone loves. A firework mortar that blows up 100 feet in the air after being launched north of the stadium isn't going to be as shocking as a howitzer being blasted 50 feet from the people sitting in the south end zone. Also they couldn't keep the howitzer there because the tents are going to be there. Some people are just impossible to please I guess.

If there's no other place to put the cannon then yes it's certainly problematic trying to keep it. I'll miss it though, and I normally sat on the West side near the south endzone.

I was going to post my own picture, but it is pretty much the same picture. I took the tour of the endzone club. I was told that the tent that was up today for showing was just a mock. The actual tent will be taller to install heaters above your head. They are also going to level the ground a little more. The height of the tent will stay the same, so the view will be pretty much the same as the photo. They mentioned they will install the second tent at the southwest corner.
