Exclamation JMU2FBS.com - Your help needed
UPDATE: We've purchased domains and hosting services and are in the process of getting the website set up. There's a temporary splash page and working email account for y'all to send questions, comments, and stuff we need (see below). The hope is to have the site fully up and working by mid-August.

We have 3 pressing needs right now to continue progress and make our delivery; developers, marketing/content contributors, and JMU football photographs.

If interested email us at: info@jmu2fbs.com

Back-end/Database Developers Needed: We have a couple guys already helping with front-end UI work but need expertise with setting up the following:

- SQL Database through GoDaddy to house records like user profiles, pledges, email lists, and reporting. Will need to use SSL and other security measures.

- A "profile" form for supporters to register with that's username (their email) and password protected. Data on this form would let them enter and modify their name, contact info, preferences, and password. Form needs to have field validations with error messaging.

- A "pledge" form/widget for users with profiles to pledge funds including frequency options such as one-time and recurring amounts like monthly, annually, etc. Supporters need the ability to to make more than one pledge and need the ability to view, modify and deleted pledges. Form needs to have field validations with error messaging.

- Pledge view / summary widgets for individual supporters to see and manage their individual pledges, as well as views/widgets for admins to have the ability to view, manage, and display the entire program's pledges.

- Program "news and events" blog for admin to post items of interest, including a calendaring function and a summary widget to display top story summaries on home page.

- Responsive design so site can adaptively display on desktop and mobile devices appropriately.

Marketing / Content Contributors Needed: We need help with creating and managing the following:

- Website content including using the site content management system for page content, news articles, event entries, and email newsletters.

- Program outreach program including events, the media (newspapers and TV), email campaigns, advertising, and marketing collateral such as print, flyers, t-shirts, etc.

JMU Football Photographs Needed:

We can reduce issues with JMU trademark protections if we use our own original photos on our website. Please send any good original photos you're okay with us using on the site and potentially in marketing collateral to: info@jmu2fbs.com

In your email please include a statement like "I grant jmu2fbs.com free and unrestricted use of my photos for their website and print marketing materials". And please, no nudes or nasty depictions of poor behavior such as vomiting, nose-picking, rude gestures, or coitus. This is a family site.

We especially need hi-res shots of:

- JMU games from last season (2014)

- JMU games throughout the program's history (especially the 70's!)

- Player action and still photos, especially of past and present NFLers

- Stadium with large crowds cheering, throwing streamers, etc.

You need to be doing more of this. A banner flying behind a crop duster at BFS on game day might also make a statement

If you make this about FBS your admin will claim they are evaluating the FBS and see CUSA and MAC as viable options but there aren't any openings currently, please continue to buy season tickets and donate to the Duke Club and good things will happen one day.

might want to have someone from upwork or freelancer run the site if you cant find the technical talent. Id be willing to donate a bit to cover some of those costs.

Need to change... "We are JMU fans supporting a move to FBS (Division 1-A) football" to...

"We are JMU fans supporting a move to FBS (Division 1-A) tackle football" just so they know we are serious.

THIS x10000

This arguement used in 2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010, 2011
Then somewhere in there NEW STADIUM! "You don't build this kind of stadium without the goal of 1A!" Said by coach and led on by admin
Then again above argument used in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 until the day we die.

Opps I said i was only rejoining the boards for DPI. Carry on.

SIDENOTE - I don't fault you for creating this movement, forgive us nay sayers who've been down this road too many times to be positive. Go forth and prove us wrong!

I may be wrong but I think this one could be different if enough of us can give support. Its gotta start somewhere and hopefully as most successful grass roots campaigns go, get a critical mass (or go viral if you will). I like the idea of getting the student body on board as their voice can be heard close to home and more frequently.

It would also be helpful is if someone could get a list of highly successful and/or famous JMU grads or one time students (think people like Phil Vassar, Charles Haley, Eliot Saddler, Czarniak, Hinshaw etc.) and get them on board. Even if they aren't the biggest contributors to the cause just having their names on the list (presuming they aren't already donating to the program) would resonate with JMU leadership. It would take someone much more persuasive and eloquent than me to write it. It would also take knowing who they all are.

Nice list, but I cannot believe it omitted Linton Townes, who, by the way, I am connected with on Linkedn as well as Scotty McGee.

That is an excellent idea, that sort of name recognition would be huge --- along with some of the more well-known football alumni
- Charles Haley
- Gary Clark
- Scott Norwood
- Akeem Jordan
- Earl Watford

These just came off the top of my head --- but if we could get all the former football players who made it to the NFL on board that would be a big win too. I know I left some off, just off the top of my head --- not meant to be a slight to anyone.

Also as many football alumni in general a part of this would be AWESOME!!!

While I agree with your thinking of the NFL'ers, people like Superman, Rascati, and Scotty carry as much weight with all things JMU as do those who made it to the next level and in some cases, more.

We're on the same page. I think we all just want to add to the previous thoughts.

Politics got Va Tech into the ACC.

Your point about VT is true (thanks to Mark Warner) but I don't think it would apply to a JMU scenario now. VT was already FBS. They just wanted to change from one FBS conference (Big East) to another (ACC). Delegate Cox (JMU Alum) didn't do JMU any favors with his recently sponsored and passed legislation related to universities changing athletic divisions (FCS to FBS). In addition to other requirements surrounding student fee funding limits, he added another hurdle/restriction in having the Virginia GA ultimately approve such a move. I suppose my sarcasm was lost in that we should have his testimonial endorsement supporting our desire to move on the JMU2FBS website. Carry on and Go Dukes!! 05-stirthepot
