Summer Marvel Movies
Let's separate this from the 'Movie Thread'.. Let's check them off so far.
Avengers: Age of Ultron: While I didn't think it was a good as the first one in some aspects, I did find the dialogue better and not as corny as in the first one-- See the Capt. America line to Hulk: "Hulk.. Smash" or the Black Widow response about Stark being late to the party: "I don't think this is a party".. Anyway while it's hard for a sequel to be as good as the original, I still liked it. You don't have to see the original to understand most of it, however, it helps and if you watch all the other Marvel movies that came out prior to it, and even watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D you can geek out.
Ant Man: The first time I heard Paul Rudd was going to be a super hero in the Marvel Universe, I groaned. To me the best role I've seen him in was as Brian Fantana in the Anchorman movies. I'm glad I was wrong. Based on the trailer I saw at Avengers earlier in the summer, I wanted to see Ant Man, plus knowing that all the movies are being connected, I felt like so I didn't get lost between Avengers: Age of Ultron to the new Capt. America or the next Thor, I needed to see it. I thought it was well done and the effects were excellent. Paul Rudd didn't play the goofy love struck fool. He played a guy that was just down on his luck and trying to turn it around. I don't think anyone else could play that part.
Fantastic Four: I've been leery of the re-boot. But the more trailers I've seen the more interested I've become and now I want to see it. The original was ok. I think Michael Chikalis as The Thing is hard to beat. So I'm interested to see how this will work out and who will make an appearance from the MCU. If you saw Ant Man, you know someone from the MCU made an appearance and a new character coming to the MCU was mentioned, so now I definitely will want to see this and will this weekend.
Coming up we have Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War 1 & 2, and the re-boot of Spiderman, which I believe will get a kick start in Captain America: Civil War. We also have the new X-Men movie coming out even though they won't be in the MCU.. As successful as that franchise has been, I look for Marvel to do a re-boot if they ever get the rights.
My failing point on the Marvel movies is I'm not a comic book guy. I tried when I was younger but never got into them, however, I love comic book movies. Huge fan of both the original and re-boot of Superman, same with the Batman franchise. I loved the first Punisher with Thomas Jane, didn't care for the second one too much. Never saw Daredevil or Elecktra, but I don't think I missed much with those two.
