Congrats on the win--but ditch the minor league thunder sticks

I have never seen those things at big time programs

Please. The Thunder Sticks are cool. Keep'em. I have seen them at big time programs before.

Go CUSA!

Name one.

I have never seen them at a major school.

PS: they aren't cool, they remind of a lame attempt to make noise

Actually what was the point of you pointing out the thundersticks in the first place? Why didn't you just congratulate the Knights on a good win and leave it at that? Don't try to steal the thunder (pardon the pun) of UCF victory tonite with this mess.

P.S. Is it any more lame than stumping your feet and or hitting the seats or stands with your hands? What about the cowbells at Miss St. Is that lame for an SEC school?

Answer--yes

And still waiting for an answer to what big time program hands out those carnival prizes?

U should stop being a hater. And I will be sure to check out a Syracuse B-Ball game this year to see if I spot any thundersticks at the game.

Now I ask you to stop trying to rain on UCF parade tonite by pointing out this lame subject about thundersticks.

Go CUSA!

You made a claim and can't back it up--btw, Thundersticks have never graced the Dome in any sort of official/unofficial way.

UCF had a nice win tonight congrats but thundersticks are minor league IMHO

I congratulated you guys on the win--it is obvious you are playing better ball. However, my comment stands on Thundersticks--I've seen them prominently displayed at Sun Belt games but not SEC/Big 10 stadiums, etc...just pointing out an observation.

Earlier in the week I positively commented on UCF tailgating so I'm not an anti UCF Troll when you do something well.

Maryland used them during both 10 win seasons, and the 11 win season. Then, the ACC banned them and Maryland went 5-6.

Oklahoma has used them as recently as 2002.

Thanks for linking the article--I agree with the author and stand corrected that a few big time teams used them to only get ridiculed and/or banned.

I bet Clemson never used them since they cheer very well on their own.

Keep the damn thundersticks and hand out more of them for UCF's next home game. Those were the greatest. I have never seen a UCF student section look like they did last night. All the cheers, chants and fight songs had the kids going crazy with those thundersticks. It brought together a sense of unity for everyone while everyone was in sync banging on those things. They also make a hell of a lot of good noise, UCF needs that for every game.

No problem Mark...bottom line...Sticks are given out by COMPANIES who have sponsorship with UCF...and want "extra" promo (forget who the sponsor was noted on the sticks last night).

They are not given out by UCF (we don't have the $$$$ for it) and if its a way to draw more $$$$ to the school (thru sponsorship), I'll take it.

Plus...the little kids love it...

KL

PS. Not many people used the sticks in the Booster Sections...but it looked like the Students (HUGE Student crowd last night...maybe 8,000-10,000 alone) LOVED them and we need to make it exciting for them to come....(student attendance normally falls over the CLIFF after the first game).

With the students storming the field last night...I sure hope most of them WANT to come back in 2 weeks for the Memphis Game...

I still compare EVERY Student Section in the Nation wherever I go to Wisconsin's....I think their Student Leaders should go on the ROAD and have seminars at other schools and TEACH those student bodies how to act during games! No one does it better then Wisconsin Student Body! (JUMP AROUND anyone?)

I dont care if thundersticks are lame, those things made a ton of noise!! Big time or not, I had a blast using them and that is all that matters. Although I wish they wouldnt have broken so easily (good thing I got a giant supply in the parking lot before entering).

It was my understanding that thundersticks were banned from conference games.
