61 is hardly young, especially for a wrestler.

Now why did he have to go smack Mario Lopez (aka A.C. Slater)?

You have to take any interview he does with a grain of salt. This statement just so coincidentally matches the fact that he was listed at 6'9 back during the 1980's, when he is really about 6'5. He was never that tall: he just wore lifts in his shoes to make him look closer to the size of Andre the Giant.
Racist remarks aside, if you have ever followed wrestling, Hogan is one of the best ever at manipulating things to make himself look sympathetic, and there is not even anyone remotely in second place.
He had an ego like anyone else.

Is there another kind of athlete who suffers more for their sport? Or performance artist for their art?
Interesting question. I wonder how it compares to pro football players or boxers.
Some studies suggest the life expectancy of an NFL football is in the mid 50s. There are some other studies that indicate it is higher.

I don't know...to hear it from some, Shawn Michaels was a real piece of work when he was at the top of the card...
Ego and gamesmanship are two different things. HBK was a known prick, and didn't hide what he was doing. Hogan had a way of stabbing you in the back, while he is looking at you in the eye, with a smile, and making you believe it is not him. But he is especially good at manipulating the media. Well, you know, if you remove the appearance on Arsenio where he claimed he had never used steroids. That was the only time he was ever called on his BS, until now.

I think that's the assessment after Montreal. And after helping to run out Hart, he could be more comfortable in that skin.
