Well this thread sure ended in a fart...but soon the original poster may get his way: forget P5, maybe soon it will be "Tier 1" or "National Championship Level" etc. Words do matter and we control none of them.

Of course we would (because money and favorable perceptions are vital) - I doubt that anyone would deny that. Moreover, I would no longer mind the "Power 5" term. Unfortunately, we are NOT part of the cartel, and it behooves us to recognize the damage that the term is currently doing to us. I am doing what I can to encourage Memphis fans and our local media to stop using the offensive, damaging "Power 5 terms" and urge you all to do the same on a local basis.

We can call them the Pickle Juice 5 if we want but words only mean so much. End of the day, the P5 still get all the money and media and we don't.

Also, jfc, terrible example.

You little men syndrome dudes can call the P5 whatever floats your boat....but in the end, they get $25+mil/team/year and have great bowls. We don't.

So call them what you will, say we are a power conference, whatever, but in the end, we are on the outside looking in: we have crud tv contract, we have crud bowls, and it isn't getting any better in the foreseeable future.

Heck EVERY AAC team could be ranked this year and win our little bowl games and we are still getting squat for TV and our bowl line up isn't changing.
