Big10 no longer scheduling FCS schools
I wonder if the other conferences are going to follow them.

RE: Big10 no longer scheduling FCS schools
They had been talking about this for a while. I think the hold up has always been Iowa and Minnesota who frequently play their neighboring FCS schools (N.Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, etc.).

My guess is they schedule more MAC games now.

"It is expected Notre Dame would satisfy the requirement, and the ACC and SEC recognize BYU as a power conference opponent."

Must really suck to be BYU.

That is, all P5 schools are in agreement that you should be a Power 5 School....but "...sorry you can't join our club."

Looks like BYU made a wise choice by deciding to go INDY, as they will not have a shortage of games on a national stage. Their win-loss record....will be another story.

Watch other contract conferences follow suit over the next 4 years. They will use it as part of their broader strategy to create a new division. Autonomy plays down to fbs fbs to fcs fcs to d2 and so on.

They are going to have to do this. With 9 conference games and no FCS games, the B10 will have a SOS argument over a team with four OOC games (one against an FCS team and one or more against a G5 school).

I hope the AAC goes this way too. I hate wasting money watching the Cats destroy a FCS school.

Me too, as I hate wasting money watching the Owls find a way to lose to a FCS school. :\

This could be the foreshadowing of a 16 team 4 conference Division 4. 07-coffee3

As I read it, the head line is misleading. It says BIG Ten to only schedule P5 schools. I think what they are really saying is the BIG Ten schools CAN schedule P-5 schools and G-5 schools, just not FCS schools.

That should help them get a tough schedule .
What sucks for them is their locked out of the Access Bowl.

It says they mandate one OOC P5 school and ban FCS.... so a typical B1G schedule could be 9 conference games, 1 P5 and 2 G5.

It's going to make it tough for them to get 7 home games unless they don't return the G5 games.

Well none but the bottom of the B1G return G5 games. I think this will drive up the cost of buy G5 games further. We might even start seeing top P5's buy games with bottom P5's in the not too distant future.

Yeah, like I said the bottom of the B1G. Penn State is technically playing Temple on the road, but even Temple fans will admit there will be more State fans in attendance.

Hey, those Big Ten schools have to find SOME way to spend those mega dollars!

Here's a nice payday lineup:

$$$$$$ UConn @ Rutgers $$$$$$
$$$$$$ Navy @ Maryland $$$$$$
$$$$$ Temple @ Penn State $$$$
$$$$ Cincinnati @ Ohio State $$$$
$$$$$$ Memphis @ Illinois $$$$$$
$$$$$$ Tulsa @ Nebraska $$$$$$
