In any event I was not disparaging an entire region...only a small subset of Americans that feel the need to display a 150 year old flag that symbolizes intolerance and bigotry to more than 1/3 of Americans.

We'll start with freedom of association. Maybe "rights" is the wrong word and the right word is "privledge". One example is the Miss Black America. They have the privlidge to get away with that with no backlash because the left supports it while the right cucks. Nobody would support a Miss White America. An NAAWP would be considered a racist, white supremacist group. I don't blame them for sticking up for themselves either. Just pointing out the hypocricy.

The battle flag wasn't a political flag. It was a flag for the soldiers. It had nothing to do with the causes, purposes, goals, or objectives involved with the American Civil War. It was "stolen" after the war. It's purpose should be for historical instruction and to honor those men that fought under the flag. It is disrespectful to use the flag as a beach towel, concert backdrop, political symbol, racist tool, etc. etc.

The First, Second, or Third National flags were political flags as was the Bonnie Blue Flag. These flags can be legitimately connected to the political aspects of the American Civil War and better represent efforts to preserve slavery and secession.

Well, here in the Detroit area, 8 Mile Road is a hard "barrier" between the region's white and black populations.

A study released in March showed Chicago as the most segregated major city in America.

Yet the "battle flag" is the prominent symbol in the second and third national flags. My point is simple, Hitler took the Swastika and forever changed they way that symbol is viewed..I dont think any thoughtful person would display a swastika hoping that people would view it for its pre-nazi meaning. This is what is happening to the Confederate Flag, the KKK has used to forever, and they and others are doing the very same thing...changing the meaning of the symbol, to the point where it will be viewed in the south the way it is viewed in the north.

Every poll I have seen suggests that the majority of folks that display the flag to so in the name of southern pride, however there is that strong and vocal minority that display it signify their hatred and bigotry. Living my entire life in the north I expect those that display it here are predominantly the latter.
